Interview with Hope Mueller
As
a writer, what would you choose as your mascot/avatar/spirit animal?
Wow this is a tough question. I want to say a
bear- because it feels as a lumbering thing, that has a lot of power behind it,
but is still awkward. I want to say a
Kangaroo because it feels jumpy, but strong and eager.
How
many hours a day do you put into your writing?
1-4 hours per day, not just writing, but
supporting the book, my company and supporting activities.
Do
you read your book reviews? If yes, do they affect what you write in the
future?
So far, yes.
All have been positive though, if negative reviews come in, I may choose
to not read them.
Do
you leave hidden messages in your books that only a few people will find?
Not hidden messages so much, but some people
will have deeper knowledge and understanding of certain pieces.
Can
you tell us a little bit about the characters in Hopey?
Hopey, from commune to corner office. Hope: girl to young woman, persevering
through an exciting childhood. Micah: Hope’s older sister who is angry and
strong. Paula: Hope’s mother who
struggles with long term addiction. From Hope’s birth to taking her entrance
exams into university.
Can
you tell us a little bit about your next books or what you have planned for the
future?
Counting Hope, knowing your worth and
value. Sequel to the debut novel will
detail the next chunk of time from University to the end of my first marriage,
and my burgeoning success at work.
Do
you allow yourself a certain number of hours to write or do you write as long
as the words come?
The words come, usually my other commitments are
the reason why I stop writing.
Do
you have a certain number of words or pages you write per day?
No
What
inspires you to write?
Observing the world, people, and an opportunity
to turn a vision into a written piece.
Would you rather
Read fiction or non-fiction?
Depends on the day. I
read a lot of both. Non-fiction biographies are a favorite.
Read series or stand-alone?

sure.

enjoyed both.
