Primal Instinct
Ally Parker
(Prowlers #1)
Publication date: September 16th 2019
Genres: Adult, Paranormal, Romance
Freedom has been a pleasure denied to Mackenzie for the last five years. Forced to do the bidding of a crazed man to keep both her sister and her self alive, she is sent on a mission to infiltrate a group of people. Payment; their release. The only problem, no one mentioned they weren’t human. Or, that she would be drawn to a certain sexy, addictive male.
Which will she decide, her heart? Or her freedom?
In a world filled with despair, Jaxx’s only chance to save his humanity is tethered to a woman he hasn’t met. Finding her in an underground facility with his kidnapped protégé, was the last place he thought to find his savior. In a web of corruption, he will have to find the truth and convince his mate, she is his.
Before it’s too late.
Interview with Ally Parker
As a writer, what would you choose as your
mascot/avatar/spirit animal?
Wolf. I’ve always been drawn to the connectedness they share within
their pack. Everyone has a place and they all stick together.
How
many hours a day do you put into your writing?
On the days I don’t work I put in six hours in a day while my monsters
are at school. Not all of my hours are writing a book, but may include other
aspects like; edits, planning, graphics, newsletters, site management, etc. On
the days I work my day job, I still aim for an hour writing before my shift,
and when I get home I mainly focus on edits—by that point I’m lucky if I still
make sense when I talk, lol.
Do
you read your book reviews? If yes, do they affect what you write in the
future?
I do. Reviews are sacred and coveted by every author—even star
ratings. I take on board any feedback that people have taken the time to share
with me.
Do
you leave hidden messages in your books that only a few people will find?
No, I don’t. I’ve actually tried to shout my messages in every
chapter, lol… that even if you’re a bit bent or frayed around the edges, you
still deserve to be connected to your pack, that you deserve a happy ever after
too—so don’t give up!
But, hidden messages sounds like a neat idea. I might incorporate that
into future books.
Can you tell us a little bit about the characters in Primal Instinct?
Sure. I love talking about my characters.
Primal Instinct introduces Jaxx—a shifter male that has
an evolving wolf glyph tethered to his humanity. The more developed the tattoo
like markings, the less humanity he has left. When his glyph is complete, he’ll
turn rogue—a creature that kills mercilessly. His only chance of survival, is
to find the one female that is strong enough to leash his beast. Jaxx has a
dark past and a glim future. Deep down he has a good heart, but his actions end
up having a domino effect that may cost more than he’s prepared to pay.
Mackenzie is a pawn caught in a web of corruption. She
is forced to do things she’s not proud of to keep both her sister and herself
alive. Kenzie blames herself for her sister’s situation and is determined to
gain their freedom. Plans go to hell when her handler makes her the next test
subject in some kind of underground experiment. Kenzie finds herself surrounded
by creatures with glowing eyes, sharp claws and their sights set on her. Decisions
will be forced, freedom will be lost and when she finds out the truth, it’ll be
too late.
Can you tell us a little bit about your next books or what you have
planned for the future?
I have Prowlers, Prowlers, and more Prowlers planned,
lol.
Primal Night (book 2) is coming out in late November or
early December this year!
Primal Need (book 3) will come out early 2020.
Primal Possession (book 4) will be released mid 2020
I do have two other book series that I work on when I
can. Both are adult paranormal romance. One is a dystopian vampire series, the
other is a mirrored earth realm with various paranormal creatures.
Do you allow yourself a certain number of hours to write or do you
write as long as the words come?
I try to stick to a writing routine. But, it doesn’t
always work out. As long as I get 1k of words done a day, I’m happy.
Do you have a certain number of words or pages you write per day?
I aim to write 2.5k of words, but I’ll settle for 1k if
I have a lot going on that day.
What inspires you to write?
The real motivation is a result of a rough time I went
through… In 2009 I struggled with postpartum depression. It was horrible and
something that I thought would never happen to me. Reading got me through it.
Books were my escape when I needed one. Every vampire or shifter helped keep me
level when I needed to be. That’s when I decided I wanted to provide escapes
for other people that might need one.
Would you rather
Read fiction or
non-fiction?
Fiction.
I like to read to escape reality, I don’t want to read about it. I think that’s
one of the reasons why I love paranormal romance so much, you’re thrown into
amazing worlds with impossible odds and a hero and heroine that need to find
their happily ever after.
Read series or
stand-alone?
Series.
I’m a greedy book hussy, lol. The more books in a series, the better. I’m what
they call a whale reader. I devour books, lol.
Read Science fiction
or horror?
Science
fiction.
Read Stephen King or Dean
Koontz
Stephen
King.
Read the book or
watch the movie?
Read the
book—then watch the movie.
Read an ebook or
paperback?
ebook. I
like to have my library with me everywhere I go.
Be trapped alone for
one month in a library with no computer or a room with a computer and Wi-Fi
only?
If I’m
honest both sound like heaven, lol. As long as I have access to read online,
I’d pick the computer and wi-fi, because other than reading I have a big social
media addiction too!
Do a cross-country
book store tour or blog tour online?
It would
be fun to do a cross-country book store tour one day. At the moment writing,
working my day job, caring for my dad and looking after my family makes that
impossible. Not to mention I’m the most socially awkward person you’d ever talk
to… seriously, it’s an issue, when I’m nervous words just pour out my mouth.
It’s like watching a slow train wreck.
As a
reader and an author I love online blog tours. You meet people from the comfort
of your own home, the bloggers do a great job of drawing out interesting
information about my favorite authors and I don’t have to make anyone endure my
awkwardness, lol.
Thanks
for having me, Nancy. I’ve had a great time!
Thank you for being here!
Yes, it has been great!
