The young professor not only took an interest in Sera—he took her into his home, hired her for his moonlighting detective agency, and gave her the one thing she’d always dreamed of: a chance. Under Barrington’s tutelage, Sera can finally take the School of Continuing Magic entrance exam to become an inspector and find her family. Now if only she could stop her growing attraction to her maddening boss—which is about as easy as this fiery elementalist quitting setting things on fire.

But when ghosts start dragging Sera into possessions so deep she can barely escape, and then the souls of lost witches and wizards appear trapped in mirrors, these two opposites will have to work together to uncover a much deeper secret that could destroy the Witchling world…

My Review 0f Mirror Bound:

In Mirror Bound Sera is still trying to battle her way into the Witchling Academy and become an inspector. She is staying with the very handsome Professor Barrington in his home while he helps her to prepare for the entrance exam to the academy.

Sera wants to be an inspector so she can find her family. Sera is a seventh-born daughter to a witch who died giving birth to her. Seventh-born witches are believed to be the cause of their mother’s death and for them losing their powers.

An old friend/enemy, Armitage from Barrington past offers them a job his sister along with seventh-born orphans that she is looking after have disappeared without a trace. Armitage wants Barrington and Sera to find them but Barrington refuses. Sera can’t past up the job as Armitage has promised her that he had something that would help her find her family.

Finding the missing seventh-born orphans soon proves to be more dangerous than she assumed it would be. I mean seventh-born children go missing every day. In the first book Seventh Born of The Witchling Academy someone was taking seventh-born children that was the reason Barrington hired her. But Sera was not going to give up on the children she would do whatever it took to find them.

Searching for the missing children not only puts Sera’s life in danger but it puts Barrington’s and the whole academy in peril. Sera and Barrington both have ghost from their past that they have to face. Sera has a few run ins with other ghost and on her hunt for the missing seventh-born children.

Mirror Bound if full of magic, mystery and ghost of all kinds. The world that the author has created for Mirror Bound is magical I could almost feel the magic in the air just like Storm. Yes I really liked Storm and would have so much liked to have seen more of Storm and Storm’s story. Storm took care of Sera too always came running whenever she was in danger and in need of help.

If you like stories that are full of magic and suspense then you are going to love Mirror Bound. But I do suggest that you start with the first book Seventh Born as they are not standalones.

Seventh Born (The Witchling Academy #1) on Goodreads

My Review of Seventh Born:

Seraphina Dovetail has been picked on all her life by everyone. Sera is the seventh-born daughter of a witch. As a seventh born everyone believes she is evil incarnate. Everyone is so afraid of her that no one is willing or wants to take the time to get to know her if they did they would see how good her heart is. Sera is the light to their dark.

Sera has had a rough life she was abandon as a small child, abused mentally and physically and betrayed. Sera wants to prove to everyone that she is not the bad person they believe her to be. Sera wants more than anything to become an inspector so she can locate her family. To become an inspector all she has to do is get into Witchling Academy.

In order for her to become an inspector and find her family she must first be referred to the Advanced Studies Program at the Aetherium’s Witchling Academy and past the right exams. Professor Nikolai Barrington promises to help Sera with her studies and to teach her how to control her magic in exchange for his help Sera is to help him find a murderer.

Someone is going around killing seventh-born witches. Barrington needs Sera’s magic to help him find out who is killing the witches before they come after Sera.

Seventh Born has me on the edge of my seat the whole way through wondering who killed those witches and what happened to Sera in the past. I loved all the magic and I loved watching Sera learn how to control her magic. All the characters played their parts well. Timothy and Mary both cared for Sera very much and wanted nothing more than to keep her safe. They are the two people she can count on the most and always have her back.

There was this big twist there at the end that I never saw coming it had me in tears I was so sad. My heart just broke for Sera. How much can one person bare? How can one person endure so much heart ache, pain, betrayal and abuse and still come out with a good heart and doing the right thing?

Seventh Born reminded me of TV shows like Charmed and The Magicians. Yeah I know The Magicians are not witches but they do have magic. Seventh Born reminded me of The Magicians of the different kinds of magic and how Sera traveled from one place to another by using magic.

I would recommend Seventh Born to anyone who likes witches, magic, murder, mystery, thrillers and suspense.
