Review Tour + #Giveaway: Bright Midnights by LS Delorme @LexyShawDelorme @GoddessFish

BRIGHT MIDNIGHTS

LS Delorme

GENRE: New Adult, Paranormal Romance, Thriller

BLURB:

Amelie has always been different.

Most high school students find life challenging, but 17-year old Amelie has a lot more to contend with than typical teenage angst. Ever since she turned 11, others have been irresistibly drawn to her—with tragic consequences. Her only escape is at night when she flies to different times and places through her “dreams”. Her life begins to change when, on one of her flights, she meets Clovis, an alluring and mysterious young man who hides a secret.

As Amelie finds herself increasingly drawn to him, she learns his story, how it intertwines with her own and finally discovers how to live her life in the real world. Until her own secrets are revealed to the wrong people and that world turns upside down.

Excerpt:

Lying outstretched on a smooth portion of the rock, head resting upon a lazy arm, was a young man. He was dark haired and lean, dressed in the tattered remains of what was a probably once-white shirt and black trousers. His black hair fell to the nape of his neck and was probably straight, but wildly unkempt. His skin was pale but not sickly so. She would have guessed him to be about her age, or at most a couple of years older, but it was hard to tell because he was so beautiful as to seem ageless. So beautiful that Amelie found herself holding her breath. He looked more like a painting or a mythological being than a real human. In fact, with goat legs he could have been a satyr. He rolled over in his sleep, throwing his arm over his eyes. He had a heart-shaped face with just a slight amount of scruff to it, like he was too young to grow a proper beard. Amelie smiled at that. She moved to the water’s edge and sank into a crouching position.

The boy was motionless now, having fallen back into a deep sleep. Overhead, the wind rustled in the trees, and golden leaves danced in the air around her. The sunlight that was able to pierce the trees made dappled patterns on the boy’s pale skin. She watched his chest move up and down. Her own breath was coming faster, and as it did, she became aware that she was feeling something, something strong. Feeling much of anything besides caution was an anomaly for her but feeling something this strong happened … never. Just to watch this boy was more engrossing that any play she had seen, any song she had heard, any book she had read. He did nothing but breathe and occasionally move his head ever so slightly—and she was riveted.

My Review:

Bright Midnights is a fascinating story that drew me into its world from the very beginning. Bright Midnights is a great story for all paranormal readers. It will grab your attention from the start and keep you hanging on page after page. It is filled with mystery and suspense that is sure to engage anyone who likes a good paranormal romance story with a little extra.

I don’t think I have ever read anything quite like Bright Midnights before. The descriptions were so vividly written I had no problem seeing it all play out in my head as if I were a part of the story. I could just see Amelie as she floated through world after world in her dreams at night.

Amelie is like other high school students in most ways. But there is something a little different about Amelie than others in a special secret kind of way. People are drawn to Amelie in ways that she does not like and tries to avoid whenever possible. Amelie likes her dream world way better than her real life.

In her dream world Amelie meets this boy Clovis. Amelie and Clovis are drawn to each other from the start. Amelie has strong feelings for Clovis from their first meeting.

Bright Midnights kept me hooked as I followed Amelie and Clovis waiting for each of their stories to be revealed and wondering how or if they would intertwine.

Hi, Lexy here, I'm the author. I'm just posting on one of my other personas. Sorry to be so late in replying but I was traveling to visit my son, just now in University. Thank you so much for reviewing Bright Midnights! This is the "second" book in the 3 book foundation for this series (along with Caio and Fanning Fireflies) but they can be read in any order. Ghosting Academy will interweave all three stories. But reading Bright Midnights will give you everything you really need to know. If you have any other questions, I am a ls_delorme on insta :)

Thank you. I now have 2 different covers for each book. New covers just came out this month but the old ones will be back in January. :)

It's at all times really, but I will say that I don't think I've ever thrown away something that I wrote when I got up in the middle of the night. I have "story" dreams. lol

ExpatMom said...

It depends on what I'm writing. I write scenes and ideas on my phone whenever and where ever I am. But I have an office where I station myself for all other parts of writing .

ExpatMom said...

I love London, Orlando, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sardinia, Naples and Shanghai, to name a few. :)

I'm a cross genre kind of girl. I think of it like cooking. You put a pinch of salt in sweet foods to bring out the flavour. I feel like it's the same with stories.

ExpatMom said...

No, but I can say that there have been characters that I have written that have literally stepped off the pages and into my life. It's true, and it's quite complicated. lol

ExpatMom said...

I write cross genre and it's always quite painful to figure out what genre to call it. I will say that Chatgpt is great for that!

ExpatMom said...

I have 8 books in this series, all in various forms of editing. So the next book is Ghosting Academy, out in late October

Badly. lol
