A farmer will always vote for whatever benefits his farm . . .

The embargo of Phaethon has ended, and all three galactic systems are vying for the planet’s alignment in upcoming elections.

Now that ships can arrive freely, the Republic, League and Alliance have all decided that Phaethon is a worthy addition to their folds. Each system sends diplomats to the frontier planet in hopes of swaying minds and capturing votes.

The League is desperately short on territory and is looking to restore its former glory, so Clarion sends several agents to help facilitate this outcome. The Alliance also seeks to expand, while Republicans want to stymie their competitors’ growth.

In the midst of all this turmoil, Tom Savage keeps working on his star farm, learning more about harnessing the power of Phaethon’s sun for energy and growing his family of businesses across the globe. But depending on which system the populace votes for, his operations may soon come to a screeching halt.

Now it’s time to get involved in politics. With Tom and Gwen and all their friends in the mix, that usually means far more action than words . . .

My Review:

From the first moment I started reading Routine Diplomacy, I was captivated by its world. I liked seeing Tom as he was working on his farm, especially when he encountered the chickens. I find it impossible to get enough of Tom's planet because of the incredible things that can occur there.

I love everything about this world and its inhabitants. The world-building is outstanding. So are the descriptions; they are so vivid that I can see it all playing out in my head as if I were watching a movie. Speaking of which, I would love to see the Star Farmer series adapted into a TV show.

I adore the capabilities of the bots. I relish the battles and learning about the planet and its future plans. I wish this series could go on forever.

If the votes do not go Tom's way, he could lose everything. While some individuals are excited for the world to grow, others wish to stop it from doing so. If things don’t unfold in their favor, Tom and his crew may need to get involved, and if they do, it won’t be pretty.

What are they going to do? What steps will they take to address their issue? Will they be able to save their fields and their planet? Reading Routine Diplomacy is the only way to find the answers to the many unsolved questions. As I eagerly awaited the conclusion to find out how Tom and his world would fare, the tension kept me riveted to the story.
