My
Review:
As we delve back into the
lives of Derry, Sven, Trout and Jakob in Embattlement we pick up where Immurement
left off. When we left them last time Derry had to leave her brother Owen
behind at Craniopolis she thought he was not going to make it and so did he. He
sacrificed himself to save Derry and everyone else. But now they are rumors
going around that Owen may still be alive and as long as there is a chance that
he is alive; Derry will do whatever it takes to save him and bring him home.
Beside someone has to stop the Sweepers from extracting everyone and using them
in their experiments.
Derry knows that she and the
Undergrounders can’t go up against the Sweepers all by their selves. They will
need help so the only choice she has is to team up with their enemies the
rogues. So Derry sets out to find them and enlist their help. When she finds
them she knows they need even more so they set out for Shoshane City to find
more help.
Upon reaching Shoshane City
with help of some riders Derry realizes right away that the leader of Shoshane
City Jerome has a lot of secrets and she is determined to find out what they
are if she is ever going to trust him. But can she ever trust anyone again. Will
she discover what Jerome is hiding? Will she ever be able to trust him? Can she
trust him long enough to save her brother? Does she really have a choice at
this point?
On her quest to save her
brother and anyone else at Craniopolis Derry and her friends run into more and
more trouble. It seems to follow her around for some odd reason. She runs into
some more bad people along the way but there is a mysterious person among the
bad guys that has been helping people escape from all their attacks upon the
Undergrounders. Who is this mysterious creature and why is he saving them? What
is his purpose? What is in it for him or her in saving them?
I love the world that the
author has created in Embattlement and all the character as well. Norma Hinkens
has created a world full of characters that jumps out and fills you with warmth
among lots of other feelings. I couldn’t get enough of it and when I wasn’t
reading it I was definitely thinking about it. I can’t wait for book 3 Judgement.
I can’t wait to find out what Derry has in plan for us next. What will she do?
Has she really saved anyone as of yet? What does Judgement have in store for
us? What is waiting on the horizon for Derry and all of her friends in
Judgement?
If you haven’t read The Undergrounders then I highly recommend that you do it will blow you away. But I suggest that you check out the first book Immurement first and then go on to Embattlement so that you can understand more about what is going on.
