My Review:
Stories like Shadowed Skies are so captivating to me that I can not get enough of them. I think Shadowed Skies is really unique compared to other books I have read, and I am eager to learn more about this universe. I am constantly on the edge of my seat because of the complex plot and compelling characters. It is a really engaging experience that makes me want to find out what happens next at every turn.
The story's plot, which describes how human and avian DNA were combined to create humans with the ability to fly and several other unique skills, appeals to me. They were developed to aid in human survival. People died as a result of a new virus that spread over the planet. To survive, they require the blood of the hybrids.
The hybrids are kept in cages by the humans. Outwitting them, nevertheless, Delene flees into the mountains and joins River there. River, who escaped a long time ago and has been living by himself in the mountains, is comparable to Delene.
After Delene is hurt during her escape, River takes her in and provides for her. River and Delene begin to be romantically involved. River and Delene are continuously watching their backs, alert for the scientist who is continually trying to find them.
With all of its intrigue and tension that had me gripped from word to word, I thoroughly loved reading Shadowed Skies. I urge everyone looking for their next fantastic book to read Shadowed Skies. Get a copy now!

Do you have a favorite space to do your writing?
Hi Tracie,
Thank you for your question. Yes, I do. I love writing from the living room loveseat. It's snug and comfy, and as I prefer to do my writing in the mornings, natural sunlight comes in and hits the area just right. Often our cat will come and sleep at the top of the sofa next to my head while I'm working, and there's something just absolutely lovely about it. :)
Thanks for such an insightful response that sounds like an amazing and cozy writing space!
Which scene was the most fun to write- and why?
I think the scene that I enjoyed writing the most was the one where River and Delene meet. There’s so much unsaid in that scene, but everything about their dynamic is hinted at. It was electric to write. River's dialogue is often clipped, short, and to the point. He's a man of action and few words. Delene is always flowing with thought, and to finally have the scene where their dynamics meet and clash, I enjoyed bringing that to life. Thanks for the question!

What originally inspired you to start writing, and what keeps you going today?
What scene in your book was the most fun to write?
Hi Tracie,
Thank you for your questions. I've been writing since I could read, so I think it was just instinct for me from the word go. I discovered as a child that words were powerful and could provide both information and an escape, which is an incredible shield in this world. The scenes I really loved writing in Shadowed Skies were both the world building of RIver's nest and Evol Hollow, and the more emotional showdowns between characters. Dr. Lytle is a very nuanced villain and as such, he's complicated. He honestly believes he's in the right, despite the vile things he does, and it was interesting to play upon that dynamic with Delene calling him out.
Thanks for your questions!
When you're stuck, do you battle the block or walk away and let the silence speak?
That's a very good question. It all depends on what's causing the writer's block. 99.9% of the time it's just that I'm busy being a mom and don't have the time to write, so I have to just put things aside and come back to it. But if something's stopping me from writing or finishing a book, I tend to be a little bit analytical and I will step away and incorporate variety into what I do such as going to read some books from the library that are similar to the book that I'm writing or going to watch a movie that might lend some kind of perspective or emotional take on something that I haven't considered before. I think the best way to get out of writer's block is to just try and see things with the fresh pair of eyes and
a positive attitude. I like to walk. Walks in the park help with this. Great question. 🥰
This is my kind of book! Love the cover.
