These are just a few of the days humans prophesied as bringing catastrophic events that would end the world. We predicted nuclear warfare. Drastic climate change. A call from God.

We were wrong.

Cue the gargoyle invasion-laboratory bred mutants designed to slaughter humans. When the government goes AWOL and gargoyles are swarming by the hundreds, it's up to the citizens of the United States to regroup and save themselves.

Meet Cliff Matthews, a teenage boy separated from his entire family with the exception of his younger sister, whom he is desperate to keep alive. Along the quest to save their lives, he encounters people who aren't all that they seem. Everyday's a battle, but if he can't trust his own species, where does that leave his family?

And we can't forget the man who may be willing to sacrifice Cliff's life, if it means world domination.

In terms of doomsday, no one could've seen this coming. The dawn of the apocalypse…

My Review:

I received a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.

Fifteen year old Cliff is at the train station with his family. His Mom, Dad, his older brother and his two little sisters Angel and Andy who are three and four and half years old. Angel and Andy tell Cliff that they have to go to the restroom real bad. So Cliff takes them to the restroom. Cliff has got to be the best big brother a girl could have. I mean how many fifteen year old boys want or will take their little sisters to the restroom. But Cliff seems to be real good with the girls like he took care of them a lot. While Cliff and the girls are headed to the restroom Cliff is all of a sudden blow away literally. When the smoke clears up a little he realizes someone is pulling on him and telling him to get up. Cliff is all confused and doesn't know what has just happened but he can't find his sisters. He starts looking around and calling for them and then he hears Angel calling him. He finds his sisters but then he can't find his parents or his brother so he decides to go home and see if they are there. They have a hard time getting out of the train station with everyone trying to go up the stairs at the same time. But they finally make it out.

Cliff and Angel get separated from Andy later when they run into these huge, giant monsters. The monsters are called gargoyles. When the gargoyles see a human they are like food, food, food! Humans are to gargoyles as chickens are to humans. When a gargoyle sees a human it picks them up and snaps their neck and picks them up, pulls off a leg and starts eating. Cliff is standing there in shock just watching the gargoyles eating when someone grabs him and takes off. He finds out later that it is the person in the train station who saved his life. Cliff, Angel and Hunter all take off in a truck and get the hell out of dodge. They are not sticking around for desert. While running for their lives trying to stay one step ahead of the gargoyles sparks start flying between Cliff and Hunter. They both like each other but they are your typical teenagers you know. One minute they are getting along just fine and then all of a sudden they each think that the other doesn't like them. Cliff thinks Hunter doesn't like him and Hunter thinks Cliff doesn't like her.

I liked most of the characters but there was a couple that you know kind of got on your nervers. You know the kind of people that only care about themselves and not anyone else even children. I love reading end of the world type of books with zombies and their always trying to kill the living. I love zombies too but gargoyles are a very nice change. I love books with lots and lots of blood and gore and Dawn of the Apocalypse did not disappointment me in the least. While I hated knowing that people were getting killed and kids were seeing this happen I still loved reading about it. If you like a good book with a lot of blood and gore then Dawn of the Apocalypse is the book for you.

About the Author:

Dawn of the Apocalypse Author photo esp.jpg

Being the daughter of an accomplished author, E.S.P. grew up listening to stories and telling her own to classmates. After writing for several years and even publishing some short works, she finally decided to take the plunge to write (plus finish!) a full length novel. Thus, Dawn of the Apocalypse was born. When she's not writing, she's either reading books, blogging at The Serial Reader, or watching eighties movies.
