Blurb:

Book 2 in the hit zombie series readers have described as, "Stephen King's 'The Stand' meets 'The Walking Dead'."

In the weeks after a virus decimated humanity and left fewer than 5,000 people alive in the U.S., a diverse group of survivors struggles to stay alive. Farmer, Wim Wagner has abandoned the safety of his farm in hopes of finding Ramey, the mysterious girl who flitted in and out of life in the midst of the outbreak. But, Ramey is on the road searching for her father and trying to locate the mysterious X on a map that promises safety.

Meanwhile, survivors like Jorge and Bundy find themselves lost on the road, trying to locate other human beings and fighting off hordes of zombies. Some rescue missions end in success, but others in tragedy.

Teenager, Mitch is trapped in a secret, underground bunker along with his mother and thousands of the undead.

Mina has escaped the hospital after killing her father when he turned into a zombie.

Grady desperately attempts to protect his autistic son after the boy died and returned as one of the undead.

They're only a few of the men and women fighting survival in a world where the dead have returned to life and overtaken the country. Will they find each other on the road or are they destined to life and die alone?

My Review:

Wim has always been alone and had turned his back on the world before the world ended. He liked living on his farm and taking care of his animals. After meeting Ramey and getting to know her and giving her a safe place to sleep he wakes up the next morning to find that she has left without saying goodbye. Wim decides that he liked having Ramey around and wants her back so he packs up and hits the road hoping to find her. After all there is nothing left for him on his farm anymore.

While she is glad that she met Wim the nice farmer who gave her place to lay her head for the night she knows she can’t stay even if she wanted to she has to look for her Dad. She has to know if he is alive or not.

On his little road trip scouring the country hoping to find Ramey Wim meets some of the other characters like Emory and Bundy who run into Mina who has been driving around in an ambulance with a zombie riding in the back. They pick up Grady along the way and he hasn’t spoken a word since they found him.

After going out to look for supplies they return to their vehicle to find it over run with zombies trying to get to Grady. After giving the zombies mercy they find that they now have a new passenger in the vehicle, Juli. Juli grew tired of wearing a gown so decided it was time to go shopping when she heard the zombies outside so she rushed out to help whoever was in the car but ended up getting herself trapped as well.

Road of the Damned is filled with lots more blood and gore with lots and lots of zombie killing. It is a dog eat dog world or should I say dead humans eat live humans. As Mitch, a senator’s son who is trapped inside a bunker with thousands of zombies says “Living people dying, dead people coming back to life, undead people eating the living. Lather, rinse, repeat.” I couldn’t have said it better.

Hell on Earth was a great introduction Life of the Dead world. I love getting to know each character and finding out where they were going or headed and wondering if their lives would ever intertwined. I also liked seeing those same characters pick up their roles in Road of the Damned and getting to know them more watching them meet up with some of the other characters on their journeys and getting to see them kill more zombies and the situations they would get themselves into at times. The ending kind of threw me for a loop and I can’t wait to see where it takes us in the next book of Life of the Dead world, The Ark.

I love this author’s writing style and the characters are all amazing with some of the things they say and how they say it. Most of them are just what I would call down to earth kind of people who doesn’t beat around the bush when they say things and I love it. That’s what I say be honest and plain with it. I loved falling into this world once again. It was like being in the world of The Walking Dead and The Stand. It is like The Stand as the people are migrating toward each other and like The Walking Dead with them having to kill zombies on the way.

Come join in on this amazing world of zombies in the Life of the Dead by starting with Hell on Earth and then going on to Road of the Damned. If you like zombies and The Walking Dead then you will love Road of the Damned.
