The
aftermath of what happened in the capital has shaken Torien to the core.
Battling self-doubt and bitterness, he must find his resolve as he is sent back
to Tasso to quell a violent uprising on the Road.
But
Torien will need more than resolve to navigate the deadly path before him. His
troops are inexperienced and his new adjutant untrustworthy. A series of murder
attempts leaves the whole camp on edge. As the threat of mutiny builds, the
mission seems doomed before they even reach Tasso—and Torien is beginning to
suspect it was meant that way. He and his men are being set up to fail.
With
his best friend in the hands of the rebels, his commanding officer refusing to
negotiate a peace treaty, and his own men ready to turn on him at any moment,
Torien must decide once and for all how much he’s willing to sacrifice for an
empire he no longer believes in.

Interview with Amanda
McCrina
Can you tell us a
little bit about the characters in Blood Oath?
The main
character of Blood Oath, Torien, is a nineteen-year-old Imperial cavalry
officer who has a terrible knack for saying the wrong thing at the wrong time
to the wrong person and getting both himself and his best friend, Alluin—his
second-in-command—in hot water for it. At its heart, Blood Oath is
really about their friendship and the sacrifices they're willing to make for
each other.
Can you tell us a
little bit about your next books or what you have planned for the future?
I have a YA historical, set in Poland during
WWII, out on submission with my agent. My current WIP is another historical,
but I don't want to give away too much about it just yet!
How long would you
say it takes you to write a book?
I've found that it generally takes me around
two years to take a manuscript from first draft to submission-readiness.
What is your favorite
childhood book?
A favorite book from childhood that I still
enjoy is Winnie the Pooh.
If you could spend
the day with one of the characters from Blood Oath, who would it be?
Please tell us why you chose this particular character, where you would go, and
what you would do.
I would take Torien out for a beer, because
he needs one. Possibly several beers.
What was the hardest
scene from Blood Oath to write?
No spoilers, but there's a scene where Torien
has to address three thousand assembled troops, and I've always had a hard time
writing large-scale speech scenes like that.
What made you want to
become a writer?
My love of reading.
