Gillian, the main character, escaped an abusive boyfriend to seek her dream of being strong and independent for her fresh start. That’s how she ended up in the trendy urban area of Dallas called Becker Circle. Gillian and her best friend Lauren both inspire me. Lauren is the perfect friend who tells it like it is. With Gillian, I learned I can control the destiny of any situation or character, and that’s very empowering! I just wish life was as easy.

Virtual Book Tour + #Giveaway: Becker Circle by Addison Brae @AddisonBrae1 @RABTBookTours
Romantic Suspense
Date Published: 14 March 2018
My first and only boyfriend believed I was too gutless to leave. He was dead wrong. My name is Gillian. I graduated Harvard early and left his hot temper and everyone else behind for Dallas. Determined to make it on my own, I land a second job bartending at the neighborhood pub smack in drama central where most every jerk in the neighborhood hits on me—at a huge price.
A week into the job, the neighborhood’s very popular drug dealer falls to his death a few feet from the table I’m serving. The cops say suicide, but the hot guitar player in the house band and I suspect foul play, and I intend to prove it. We dig deeper, grow closer, and make a shocking discovery. We know the murderer.

Can you tell us a little bit
about the characters in Becker Circle?
Gillian, the main character, escaped an abusive boyfriend to seek her dream of being strong and independent for her fresh start. That’s how she ended up in the trendy urban area of Dallas called Becker Circle. Gillian and her best friend Lauren both inspire me. Lauren is the perfect friend who tells it like it is. With Gillian, I learned I can control the destiny of any situation or character, and that’s very empowering! I just wish life was as easy.
Can you tell us a little bit
about your next books or what you have planned for the future?
I’ve been working a lot with artificial intelligence that’s
got a fascinating romantic suspense brewing in my head. Based on the positive
reader reviews, I’m also
toying with the idea of creating more adventures for Gillian in Becker Circle.
How long would you say it takes you to write
a book?
Writing
takes a few months. Revising can take a year or more. I’m working to be faster!
What is your favorite childhood book?
The Anne of Green Gables
series was one my first loves because spunky Anne Shirley always overstepped
boundaries and questioned the rules.
If you could spend the day with one of the
characters from Becker Circle who would it be? Please tell us why you chose
this particular character, where you would go and what you would do.
I’d
love to be an invisible fly on the wall with Kyle, the antagonist, to see his
life story. I’ve known some pretty evil people, but never understand them—what
caused them to be so wicked, what motivates their every move. It’s fascinating
to learn what makes people good versus bad.
What was the hardest scene from (Please
insert name of book here) to write?
Gillian,
the main character, has pops of her abuse college relationship that haunt her
throughout the story. So many people in my life have been victims of domestic
violence like Gillian. Seventy-four percent of people in Texas know someone
who’s a victim. It broke my heart to write those scenes.
What made you want to become a writer?
I’ve written diaries,
letters and short stories since I was a kid, which led to my career writing
video scripts, articles and speeches as an independent marketing consultant.
But while growing up, no one encouraged me to dream. My destiny was to get a
corporate job, marry, have kids, then retire. That’s so not me. About nine years ago, I realized I could do lots more than
live that expected life. It’s also when the inspiration for my first novel hit.
I was super selective about whom I told so nothing or no one could discourage
me.
Just for fun
(a Favorite song: I’m a music junkie. I write to music—anything from 80s alternative to
classic rock to today’s pop. It drowns out the distractions.
(b Favorite book: Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier. It’s old fashioned but so suspenseful and well
written.
(c Favorite movie: Also
Rebecca. When I was a kid, I watched the 1940 black and white film in my
grandparents’ gothic three-story 19th century home. The movie scared
the pants off me—so much I was too frightened to walk down the hall to the
bathroom.
(d Favorite tvTV show: I’m
a fan of Booze Traveler, Black Mirror, Altered Carbon, Doctor Who, Law and
Order SVU, and Mad Men.
(e Favorite Food: I’m
a sucker for gumbo, steak, and anything Tex-Mex or Greek
(f Favorite drink: I
love a smooth glass of red wine.
(g Favorite website: My
browsing history proves my favorite websites are Pandora and YouTube for my music
addiction and Amazon and Black Milk Clothing for shopping at my fingertips.
Thanks so much for visiting with us today!

Addison Brae lives in Dallas, Texas on the edge of downtown. As a child, she was constantly in trouble for hiding under the bed to read when she was supposed to be napping. She has been writing since childhood starting with diaries, letters and short stories. She continues today with articles, video scripts and other content as an independent marketing consultant.
When she’s not writing, Addison spends her time traveling the world, collecting interesting cocktail recipes and hosting parties.
