Tales of Dunes and Dragons
A Luminous Lands Story
by Juliet Vane
Genre: Fairy Tales, Fantasy

Blurb:

As a warrior for her desert kingdom, Inez thinks the drought is something for older, wiser people to resolve. She’s busy enough with training and trying to resist the charms of her friend, Orion. But soon, she and Orion are sent on a quest to find a water dragon, slay it, and use its pelt to bring water to their kingdom.

If she succeeds, she and Orion will save their people. But if she fails, more than her soul will be lost.

My Review of Tales of Dunes and Dragons:

As with most all of the villages in the desert kingdom water is scarce. Everyone has taken to only using it with absolutely necessary and mostly for drinking only. After a group of travelers enter Inez’s village they are told a story about where and how to find water. Inez and Orion are sent on a quest to find water for the kingdom.

On their journey they are faced with betrayal, deception, Windhaunts, dragons, new friends, enemies. Inez and Orion find themselves in battles that they never saw coming. With each leg of their journey the action ramps up and up as they make their way to reaching their quest and accomplishing it, hopefully.

They meet a new friend along the way that puts a wonderfully awesome twist to the story that just touched my heart with happiness. But there are parts of the story the also breaks my heart and leaves me with a no, no, no, why, why, why kind of feeling.

Inez and Orion are such great characters, characters that you would want to be friends with. Juliet Vane is such a great storyteller that I could just see Inez and Orion’s story playing out in my head as I listened to Juliet tell it. I could just see Inez and Orion riding along in their sled with the wolves pulling it as the dust swirled up around them almost covering them to a point where you could barely see them and their sled. I could see them fighting the Windhaunts as they were twirling around with their swords slicing and dicing.

I love this world and the stories that the storyteller Juliet tells in the Luminous Lands stories. I can’t wait to hear more from these two and from this world in future book.

I highly recommend Tales of Dunes and Dragons to all fans of dragons; heart felt stories and wonderful characters.

About Juliet Vane

Juliet grew up in northern California, where she spent her free time staring at spooky lakes and making up stories about the old buildings surrounding them. Years later, she still lives in California and she still makes up spooky stories…about lakes and the old buildings surrounding them. Like April in April’s Ghosts, she’s terrified of spiders and she’s obsessed with Hamilton. Like Lissa in June's Blood, she plays the piano...but not very well.
