You want to make a change. Write a book, make more money, lose that extra weight, whatever…

You vow to yourself that tomorrow you are going to make it happen! This time it will be different.

But tomorrow comes and you don’t get started.

And even if you do get started, some hidden force keeps you from committing to the changes you made.

In short, you sabotage yourself.

In this fast, engaging read, you will learn why you are sabotaging yourself from getting what you want but more importantly, exactly what to do about it.

Interview with Jennie Potter

What is your schedule like when you’re writing a book?

I usually get up around 4am and write for an hour or so, I like it when the house it quiet. I will also block days where I don’t have coaching clients out so I can immerse myself.

Did you ever consider writing under a pseudonym?

I thought about it! I thought about using the name Phoenix to represent the rebirth I have experienced this last decade or so.

Have you ever gotten reader’s block?

Readers block… YES. After my dad passed away I couldn’t pick up a book and read more than a page without putting it down. I am reading again but probably listen to more audibles that physical books these days.

Does your family support your career as a writer?

I am 100% supported and my husband is my biggest fan. I read and re read everything I write and get his feedback.

How many hours a day do you write?

Even when I am not focused on a book I am writing ideas, framing new book titles, chapters. I fill notebooks on a weekly basis with my thoughts and ideas.

If you could invite any three people for dinner, whom would you invite?

John Maxwell, Elizabeth Gilbert and Gabrielle Bernstein.

Would you share something about yourself that your readers don’t know (yet)?

My husband and I just converted an ambulance and want to live on the road one day soon. The dream being; writing and coaching most mornings with coffee in a new outdoorsy spot. Then random, 5 star spa/hotel experiences for speaking gigs and to break up the “roughing it”.

Do you try more to be original or to deliver to readers what they want?

Great question. I write what comes out of me. It feels a bit magic, then I go over and over it til it sounds right in my head. I am always aware of the reader but it is a personal experience at the same time.

How do you celebrate when you finish your book?

I ask my honey for flowers and we have a date night.

If you could be mentored by a famous author, who would it be?

I would love to spend time with Gabrielle Bernstein and learn from all she has created and experienced.
