All Essallie Hanley wants to do is forget all about the night she went to a party and her boyfriend was devoured by a demon named Kayden. She just wants to go on with her life and be like any other teenage girl. But Essie can't be like other teenagers seeing how she can conjure up blue fire with her hands. She returns to her home town to live with her brother and try to get on with her life.

When she returns to her home town and new school guess who shows up? Kayden the demon. Kayden is sent to kill Essie but he can't or won't. He decides to help Essie figure out who and what she is. Essie doesn't know how to control the blue fire. So when she gets angry at someone and that someone is usually Kayden she sets him on fire. Essie is a good girl with a good heart but she kind of has a anger problem and when she gets upset look out cause she is going to set someone or something on fire.

You know Kayden is a demon and he goes from devouring, consuming, eating or what ever to trying to help or save anyone that Essie throws her blue fire at. He turns out to be a kind of really nice guy who cares about Essies and her friends.
