Emma Walker was a writer who'd lost herself to someone else's anger--who had given up on ever feeling like herself again.

Evan Levesque was a rock-god--the one all the woman wanted, but he'd never gotten used to the loneliness between the stage and real life.

With just one cup of coffee they'll begin a journey of self-discovery at each others sides, but can Emma handle Evan's fame while dealing with her own demons? Emma's checkered personal past, a bad relationship that haunts the edges of her memories, threatens to make everything implode on them when Evan takes matters into his own hands.

Sticks and stones may break my bones, but your words...they'll destroy my soul--Can Emma handle being put back together and facing who she's become because of it?

Author Interview:

The Avid Reader: What inspired you to write Love Exactly?

Cassandra Giovanni: I was writing another much heavier novel, Deadly Sins. There was also a lot of going on in my life, including three college courses, studying to get my life license, I’d just totalled my car...It was just a very stressful time, and I found I couldn’t concentrate on Deadly Sins. I decided to write something light and fluffy, which of course ended up not being light and fluffy. The novel deals with some serious, controversial issues--issues I have dealt with personally. The novel turned from my attempt at fluff to a healing process.

The Avid Reader: When or at what age did you know you wanted to be a writer?

Cassandra Giovanni: I don’t really know. I’ve always wanted to be a writer.

The Avid Reader: What is the earliest age you remember reading your first book?

Cassandra Giovanni: As surprising as this might sound, I couldn’t read until second grade. I was a very stubborn child, but once I decided I wanted to read I did--and I did it at a grade level 5 higher than the one I was in. I do remember one very distinctly about a bunny rabbit. It was blue and had a silly bunny rabbit on it, my mom still has it, but I can’t recall the name.

The Avid Reader: What genre of books do you enjoy reading?

Cassandra Giovanni: Classics, mostly, but I’m really not picky. I’m not a fan of sci-fi or vampires and werewolves, though.

The Avid Reader: What is your favorite book?

Cassandra Giovanni: Emma by Jane Austen

The Avid Reader: You know I think we all have a favorite author. Who is your favorite author and why?

Cassandra Giovanni: Jane Austen--she’s just plain amazing, her life and the way she wrote despite of it. I love her sense of humor and understanding of human nature.

The Avid Reader: If you could travel back in time here on earth to any place or time. Where would you go and why?

Cassandra Giovanni: I’m kind of a fan of this time, here and now--no, it’s not perfect, but I have my husband in this life, and amazing friends and family. I’ll stay here. :) You can bring Jane Austen here, though. I’d like that!

The Avid Reader: When writing a book do you find that writing comes easy for you or is it a difficult task?

Cassandra Giovanni: I never force the process, so I suppose it comes easy.

The Avid Reader: Do you have any little fuzzy friends? Like a dog or a cat? Or any pets?

Cassandra Giovanni: You know it! I have two of my own dogs (Bubski-Chihuahua/Jack Russell and Kanga-Italian Greyhound/Jack Russell), two cats (Onyx and Amber), a bunny (Thumper) and a dog I babysit permanently (Dagney--Chow/German Shepherd). I also have 5 furry siblings :)

The Avid Reader: What is your "to die for", favorite food/foods to eat?

Cassandra Giovanni: Gluten Free Boston Creme Pie made by my mom or Gluten Free Calzones from Engine 6.

The Avid Reader: Do you have any advice for anyone that would like to be an author?

Cassandra Giovanni: Write like you want to, take advice with a grain of salt and go with your gut. Do what works for you and stick by it. Have integrity and realize that readers are the ones that help make your career, just as much as your own writing.
