FROM POPULAR ROMANCE AUTHOR JANUARY BAIN

Book one in the Brass Ring Sorority series

Think archeology is just dead bones? Think again

Headstrong archeologist Casey spends her life exploring the world for hidden treasure and ancient artifacts. A free spirit, her dedication to her calling means she’s often in conflict with the more narrow-minded higher-ups at the university where she’s employed as an associate professor. Timetables, rules, protocols—they all go out of the window when Casey’s on the hunt.

The inscrutable Professor Truman Harrison falls for Casey at first sight, literally, tumbling into a pit at her feet on first meeting. Now, if he, as Casey’s new, detested department head can just talk her into helping him search for the legendary treasure buried in the Money Pit of Oak Island, Nova Scotia, maybe he can also get her to fall into his bed. But first he needs to prove to her he’s not just another tunnel-visioned, box-ticking management ‘suit’.

But the romance of this scorching-hot couple proves to have all the twists, turns, false starts and trick corners of a multicursal labyrinth. Luckily, both Casey and Truman have no small skill and a little bit of practice in navigating those…

My Review:

Casey is an archeologist, a professor at the University of Manitoba. Casey likes to spend her time looking for treasure. The treasure she finds helps support the group that she belongs to is called the Brass Ring Sorority. The Ringers as they like to call themselves are a group of eight women including Casey. The women in the Brass Ring Sorority are all very strong and independent women who look after their selves and don’t need any man to help them out.

The Ringers look after each other; they stick up for each and always have each other’s back. They work together to see that each girl’s dreams come true in one way or another where that dream is looking for treasure or looking for ghost in haunted houses. The treasure they find goes toward sponsoring their dreams.

Casey is out on one of her treasure hunts when a man falls at her feet. Casey stops to help the man out the two of them strike up a conversation and when Casey tells the man who she is and where she works she is a little taken back when he tells her that he is the new head of the archeologist department and her new boss. Casey is not too thrilled to hear this as she doesn’t mingle well with “suits”.

The professor mentions that he likes to look for treasure as well and plan to go digging around on Oak Island. Casey tells him good luck with that one as it is hard to get the permits needed. Casey has wanted to go exploring and looking for treasure on Oak Island ever since she was a little girl. So when the good professor asks her to go with him to Oak Island to assist him with his research she agrees to go.

Casey and the Professor have their ups and downs but the sparks do fly in more ways than one. Casey and the Professor are attracted to one another but things keep getting in their way that keep them apart with their on again off again romance. Casey is a very strong woman who likes taking care of herself and has a hard time trusting or letting men in.

Winning Casey is filled with lots of twists and turns looking for treasure that will keep you glued to the pages wanting to know what they find. Winning Casey has lots of secrets between its pages and hangs on to them right up to the end. There is plenty of mystery and suspense to go around and keep you hanging on. Winning Casey keeps you hanging on and digging for all of its secrets.

Winning Casey is for all those folks who like a good mystery and suspense that will keep you looking for its treasure right up until the end.

Think being a PI is all dull divorce cases? Think again.

Lacey Cameron, private investigator and treasure hunter, takes being headstrong and passionate to a whole new level. It takes exactly one morning in a school teaching young minds for her and her identical twin sister to break the whiteboard pointer in half, throw their keys onto the teacher’s desk and heed the seductive call of wide-open spaces and awesome adventures.

William James Thornton ?, a renaissance man and warrior poet who defended his country in Iraq and Afghanistan, knows he’s got his hands full trying to get Lacey to see him as more than just a friend. He’s ready to settle down, marry the woman of his dreams and make his mother a happy grandmother. Hell, he’s got enough treasure in his bank account for two lifetimes.

Things go from normal craziness to extremely dangerous in a heartbeat as hired killers are sent after Will and Lacey, who are getting too close to the truth in a murder case. If Will can get them out of this mess, he vows to lay all his cards on the table with Lacey. Get her to recognize what they can share as a couple. Passion. Love. And a commitment to blending her wild nature with his own—the perfect spicy combination. Even if it looks like it might just be the death of him.

My Review:

Lacey and Will have been best friends for a long time. Will would like to see their relationship become more but Lacey is not quite ready for a serious permanent relationship. Lacey is a strong willed women who likes to do things on her own without anyone to stop her and she sure don’t need a man hanging around giving her orders and changing it.

Lacey and Will are Private Investigators who work together in the same firm. Lacey likes to travel all over the world hunting treasure. Lacey is not ready to settle down nor have a man in her life besides she has her best friends the Brass Ring Sorority, seven of the best friends a girl could ever ask for. The Ringers stick together no matter what and if one of them is in need of their help they will drop whatever they are doing go all the way across the world if called.

A Friend of Lacey’s from college calls her asking for her help. Megan informs Lacey that her brother Danny was murdered and she wants Lacey to find out what happened. Danny was mugged but Megan thinks there is more to the story than they have been told. Megan thinks that something is not right and it all may be a cover up.

The murder took place in the Philippines so I guess it looks like Lacey is headed to the Philippines but she is not going alone as Will has made himself her bodyguard. He tells Lacey that it is too dangerous for her to go alone besides he has his own private plane and lots of money.

Once in the Philippines the clues start to pile up and Lacey jumps in head first not thinking of herself or anyone else. These clues take her down some very dangerous roads putting Lacey’s life in peril. Lacey may be hot on the trail of a murderer but someone is hot on her trail as well which could cost Lacey more than she could ever dream.

Chasing Lacey keeps you wanting to flip those pages to see where the story is going next. It has loads and loads of mystery and suspense leading you down some very perilous roads. After reading Winning Casey I couldn’t wait to meet Lacey and get to know her and see where she took us. I can’t wait to meet the rest of the girls in the Brass Ring Sorority.

I would recommend Chasing Lacey to anyone who likes a good mystery with little suspense as well romance in their stories.
