With his jacket draped across his
arm, Liam crossed the living room with slow, measured steps and barely making a
sound. In the two years Taz had lived there, he’d yet to master crossing the
room without the wood floor squeaking. He wondered how long it had taken Liam.
“Sneaking out?” Taz asked.
Liam jumped but quickly composed
himself. He pivoted to the couch in the dark room, Taz’s silhouette barely
visible. “Hey, I didn’t see you there.”
“Not surprising. You looked focused
on the door and a speedy escape.” Taz clicked on a lamp.
Liam’s cheeks reddened, and his
nose scrunched in an adorable way. “Yeah, well… I wasn’t sneaking, though.”
“Vic’s asleep?”
“Yeah.”
“Did you wake him to tell him you
were leaving?”
“No need.”
“And you were quiet getting out of
bed, crossing the floor, and shutting his door.”
Liam nodded.
“Then, you’re sneaking.”
