My entire life is my music—and all the trappings that come with it. Sex, booze, and rock ’n’ roll is all I ever wanted. Touring the world as the lead singer of Balefire, I have it all. Until on hiatus, I meet the girl next door.

Ashleigh Baker is nothing like the groupies and celebrities who usually have all my attention. In her cute floppy hat with her knees stained with dirt, she spends her days creating a flowering show piece from her rented yard. She’s the most gorgeous woman I’ve ever met, and she acts like she doesn’t want a damn thing to do with me. But from the moment I laid eyes on her, she’s all I can think about.

Ashleigh

Growing up the only child of an Air Force Colonel, all I wanted was to stay in one place for more than a minute. When I score a pretty little house with a long-term lease, I just want to grow my flowers and my freelancing gig as a music reviewer. Then a loud Harley wakes me from a sound sleep and I discover my neighbor is Blu Connolly. Yeah, that Blu Connolly, lead singer for my favorite band Balefire. With his killer good looks and panty-melting voice, he’s a walking temptation to sin. Though I do my best to avoid him, it seems Blu has other ideas. He’s on a mission to wear me down, let him in, but what happens when he stops wanting to sing for me?

Interview with Tam DeRudder Jackson

What made you want to become a writer?

When I was 12, I was going through all the middle school girl drama when I read a book about girl friendships. After I read it, I decided to write my own version of the story, and I was hooked on writing.

What inspired you to write Sing For Me?

I love rock music. Each of the books in the Balefire Series was inspired by a rock song. Sing was inspired by Theory of a Deadman’s “What Was I Thinking?”. If you listen to the song after you read the book, you’ll probably hear exactly what inspired the story. ;)

Can you tell us a little bit about the characters in Sing For Me?

Blu Connolly is the lead singer of Balefire. He’s all about the music and the party that comes with singing in the world’s most popular rock band. He lives in the moment, riding his Harley, hooking up with groupies and celebrities, teasing his bandmates, and generally having a good time. He doesn’t know what to do with his hot neighbor calling him on his b.s.

Ashleigh Baker is the girl next door. She’s a music reviewer for bands in the local scene in Denver and supplements her income with substitute teaching. Her hobby is gardening, and she’s worked out a deal with her landlady to trade landscaping the yard of her rental for a break on her rent. She’s happy to live a quiet life, so she’s not impressed with her neighbor, especially when his antics at a bluegrass show she’s assigned to cover costs her her job with the music blog she works for.

You know I think we all have a favorite author. Who is your favorite author and why?

My queen is Jane Austen. I’ve read all her books multiple times plus. I also love to read other authors’ send-ups of and tributes to Austen’s books. Currently, I’m all about how Sonali Dev is playing with Austen’s stories, setting them in America with an Indian-American cultural twist.

Can you tell us a little bit about your next books or what you have planned for the future?

Wild For Me, Book Three in the Balefire Series is the lead guitarist’s story coming in November 2021. I think I love Dakota Perri, the lead guitarist, the best of the boys in Balefire, so I’m excited to share his story with readers. Hot For Me, Adam Tron the bassist’s story, will be available in January 2022. Because readers asked for it, I’m also working on another installment of my paranormal Talisman Series. Rogue will release sometime in late spring/early summer 2022.

What did you enjoy most about writing this book?

Writing this series in first person really let me get inside my characters’ heads, which was great fun. Figuring out the song lyrics Blu would write for Ashleigh allowed me to indulge my love of poetry. Did I mention how much I love rock music? Going to rock shows for research made writing this book a blast. I’m so happy they’re back.

Author Bio:

Tam DeRudder Jackson is the author of the paranormal romance Talisman Series and the contemporary romance Balefire Series. Her favorite “room” in her house is her back patio where she dreams up stories of romance and risk. When she’s not writing her latest paranormal or contemporary romance, you can usually find her driving around with the top down in her convertible or carving turns on the slopes of the local ski hill. The mom of two grown sons, Tam likes to travel, attend rock concerts, watch football and soccer, and visit old car shows with her husband. She lives in the mountains of northwest Wyoming where she spends most of her free time trying to read all the books. Her TBR piles are threatening to take over her office, and she’s fine with that.
