Interview with B. Truly
Have you read anything that made you think differently about fiction?
Not really. When I’m reading fiction, I feel like I’m immersed into someone else’s life or fantasy. It’s a nice break from reality. I’ve always loved fiction because it takes my mind away from my own, real-life problems.
How do you select the names of your characters?
I usually google and chose unique names that I love for main characters. For the side characters, I use names I like.
Do you hide any secrets in your books that only a few people will
find?
I don’t know about secrets per say, but I normally will use references from things I like or that people can related to.
Do you want each book to stand on its own, or are you trying to build a body of work with connections between each book?
Both. Each of the books in the series can stand alone, but they also connect.
What were your goals and intentions in this book, and how well do you feel you achieved them?
My goals were to explore the concept of identity through amnesia. I also wanted to explore how love would navigate through tough situations. I used the theme; What would you do if you had amnesia and fell in love, only to learn upon regaining your memory, that you’re already married.
I feel like I accomplished my goals and the book turned out just how I wanted.
What inspired you to write Sonar The Crashing?
The show Roswell from 2000 was a big inspiration for my story.
Can you tell us a little bit about the next books in Sonar The Crashing or what you have planned for the future?
Sonar The Cyclone is book #2, the sequel in the series. It focuses more on one of the female characters from book 1#. The main concept is forbidden romance dealing with the children of rival king’s and waging war.
Can you tell us a little bit about the characters in Sonar The Crashing?
