Terrence: A Short Story Alice Rachel(Under Ground, #0.8)
Publication date: May 15th 2017
Genres: Dystopian, New Adult, Romance
Bullying is nothing new to Terrence Young. The teasing and harassment are constant. His family is less than understanding as well. To them, Terrence chose to be gay and complicate their lives. Their little rejections sting and cut him deeply.
But when the Deviance Act is passed, Terrence’s life takes a turn for the worse overnight. Under the new law, a mere look, a simple touch, or a small kiss in public could mean death. Terrence attempts to hide his orientation to survive. That is until a gang attacks him in a bar and Chase Martinez interferes.
Chase is gorgeous, kind-hearted, and he’s a rebel in the Underground—all qualities that attract Terrence so much there is no stopping the fall. Loving Chase might be dangerous, but Terrence is done living in fear and letting others dictate what is right for him.

My Review:
Terrence Young has lived all his life with people bullying
him and calling him names including his own family all because he likes men and
not women. His sister, Ester and his father are mean to him and are always
putting him down and they actually believe that he chose to be gay.
Terrence has always tried to hide the fact that he was gay
from everyone but when a new law the Deviance Act is passed he has to be more
careful than ever before. Under this new law if he is caught kissing, touching
or just looking at another guy in the wrong way then he will be executed.
Terrence has to be so careful when he is out in public not
to do anything that will get him caught but unfortunately he doesn’t have to do
anything they just know. No matter how careful he is it will not stop him from
taking a beating. Terrence is getting fed up with having to hide who he is. All
Terrence wants is just to be loved.
Terrence’s story is not the first of Alice Rachel’s books I
have read. I have read Under Ground book #1 and Standing Ground book #2 and I
loved both very much. While I loved Thia and Chi’s story I also fell in love
with Chase and Terrence as well and was very glad when I had the opportunity to
read Terrence’s story and I can’t wait to read more of everyone’s story in the
Under Ground series.
I love the world that has been created for the Under Grounds
series and I loved finding out more about Terrence and his background and
getting to know him. Terrence is a tough guy to have endured all that he had
through his life but he was a soft hearted person too. He cared more for people
than they deserved after what they put him through. But that just goes to show
how big his heart is. He was not going to stoop to their level and do to them
what he didn’t want them doing to him. If he did that would make him just like
them.
Come join Terrence and get to know him for who he is and
fall in love with him as I did. If you have not read Terrence’s story then I
would love to suggest that you give it a try. But let me warn you; a box of
tissue may be needed during the reading of Terrence: A Short Story.
