Interview
with Jennifer Comeaux
What
inspired you to write Gold Rush?
I had the idea for Gold Rush for a while because the main
character Liza was a secondary character in my first two series. She was a
young girl then, and I knew as soon as she grew up I wanted to tell her story.
She went through a lot as a child, and I wanted to delve into how her past was
still affecting her. With her immense skating talent, she also had the
potential for a great sports story.
Can
you tell us a little bit about what you have planned for the future?
I’m in the early stages of plotting a new three-book
series about three figure skaters who are best friends – one is a singles
skater, one a pairs skater, and one an ice dancer. The first book will focus on
the ice dancer. There will be lots of drama on the ice and of course lots of
romance!
Can
you tell us a little bit about the characters in Gold Rush?
Liza is the protagonist, and she’s a nineteen-year-old
skater who’s the favorite to win Olympic gold. She’s lived a sheltered life and
is totally focused on skating, and she’s not expecting to fall for Braden. He’s
a college student she meets by chance, and his upbeat, outgoing personality
draws her in immediately.
You
know I think we all have a favorite author. Who is your favorite author and
why?
Kasie West is my favorite author. She knows how to
capture all the YA contemporary feels so perfectly!
If
you could time-travel would you travel to the future or the past? Where would
you like to go and why would you like to visit this particular time period?
I’d like to travel to the 1940’s. I love the music and
the fashion of that era, and I’d like to meet my late grandparents who I never
had a chance to know.
Do
you have any little fuzzy friends? Like a dog or a cat? Or any pets?
I used to have a beta fish, but I am pet-less now. I
travel a lot, so I don’t think I’d be the best pet owner! There is a furry
friend in Gold Rush, though J
