Blog Tour + #Giveaway: Gybe by Kristi M. Turner @kristimturner19 @yaboundtourspr

Gybe
by
Kristi M. Turner
Genre: YA Contemporary Fiction
Release Date: August 28th 2016

Summary from Goodreads:

Nicole is an 18-year-old, juvenile delinquent who desperately wants to take control of her life but must find a way to overcome her own self-sabotage and a judge who won’t easily let her escape her past. She keeps food on her plate and clothes on her back by stealing. It is far from the life she wants, but she has known little kindness in her life and, therefore, gives little back. When Judge Newton charges her for the first time as an adult, Nicole recognizes a separating path: She can stay on her path to destruction or she can accept the unexpected generosity of the Kutcher family, whose house she is charged with burglarizing.

Child psychologist, Cynthia Kutcher, believes she can help Nicole confront her anger and build back the self-worth she lost when her father abandoned her to a drunken uncle after her mother’s death.
Along the way to building a more valuable life, Nicole meets Keagan, an affluent young man with whom she begins an often overwhelming love affair despite the conflicts their disparate pasts bring.

Interview with Kristi M. Turner

What inspired you to write Gybe?

Honestly, after my daughter was born, I suffered post-partum anxiety. Doctor’s tell you to write your feelings down, and I tried that, but it didn’t work. Instead I wrote Gybe. Being able to jump into a character’s head and issues and getting out of my own helped me in handling my anxiety.

Can you tell us a little bit about the next books or what you have planned for the future?

I did not intend to write another book related to Gybe, however, two of the side characters really spoke to me, so I am writing another book now about them. Hopefully, it will be out early 2018.

Can you tell us a little bit about the characters in Gybe?

Nicole and Keagan are the two main characters.

Nicole was brought up right but unfortunately she lost her mother at fifteen and had to move in with an alcoholic uncle who didn’t really force her to start stealing, but made it almost impossible for her not to take it up. She is actually being arrested when the book opens and she has to make some heavy, deep decisions in a very short amount of time.

Keagan is a senior at the University of Alabama and he recently made an unwise decision which puts him in Nicole’s path. He begins to have feelings for Nicole early on and she does not know if she is at a place in her life to reciprocate those feelings.

You know I think we all have a favorite author. Who is your favorite author and why?

Hands down, Tarryn Fisher is my favorite author. Her writing style draws you in and never lets you go.

If you could time-travel would you travel to the future or the past?

Where would you like to go and why would you like to visit this particular time period? I would have to say I would travel to the future. I would go to any beach available because any beach is my favorite place, and the reason I would choose future is because maybe, in the future there will be cures for most every sickness.

Do you have any little fuzzy friends? Like a dog or a cat? Or any pets?

Oh yes! I have four furry friends. I have a Shih-tzu named Bingo (My little girl was learning the Bingo song and thought that was the only name a dog could be named) and a part-Weimaraner named Cam (he is huge) in my house! Outside, I have two mixed breeds. Scottie is ten years old and our newest little love is named Fluff. He was unknowingly donated to us a few weeks back, lol.

Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to visit with us today.
