Eden:
Josh Evans and I have been best friends forever. He knows all my secrets, and I
know all of his. So when he randomly asks me to help him lose his virginity, I
sort of flip out. That’s a question that sends your mind to places you’ve
seriously never considered before. Like, you know. Having sex. With your best
friend. Except Josh doesn’t want to have sex with me—he wants me to help him
find a girl. A nice girl who’s funny and smart and cute. Except he already
knows a girl just like that…
Josh:
Eden Sumner is my best friend. So of course she’d be the person to help me find
my perfect match, so I can drop my V card before I head off to college. Except
the more we search, the more I realize that maybe the right girl has been by my
side all along. I don’t need Eden’s help in finding me a girl to love. I’m
pretty sure I’m already in love with Eden. But now she thinks I’m only after
one thing…with anyone but her.
Disclaimer: This
Entangled Teen Crush book is what happens when American Pie meets Friends with
Benefits. It contains two best friends, plenty of angst, and lots and lots of
sex talk. Reading this might have you looking at your best friend in a
different light!

Interview with Monica Murphy
What inspired you to write Saving It?
My editor sent a submission call out for a book with a
theme similar to American Pie – she wanted it to be a book about friends losing
their virginity. I knew the moment I saw the idea, I wanted to write it. But
that was a couple of years ago and I was swamped with deadlines so I didn’t
have the time. Fast forward to last year and my editor sent out that submission
call again. By then, I had the first chapter of Josh and Eden’s story so I sent
it to her and she acquired it quick. So excited reads get to know Josh and
Eden!
Can you tell us a little bit about what
you have planned for the future?
I have a YA thriller coming out January 2nd –
PRETTY DEAD GIRLS is about someone killing the popular girls at a private high
school, and my main character, Penelope, is afraid she’s going to be next.
There’s murder and a hot boy, a winning combination. LOL
Can you tell us a little bit about the
characters in SAVING IT?
Josh and Eden are best friends and have been since eighth
grade. They know all of each other’s qualities, both good and bad. When he asks
her to find him a girl to lose his virginity with, Eden starts to see Josh in a
different light—and Josh starts to see Eden differently too.
They were so much fun to write. I brought in real, tiny
elements I picked up from my kids and their friends, which I think helps make
the characters feel even more real. When you’re surrounded by teens on a
constant basis like I am, you get a lot of insight into the teen mind and
what’s important to them.
You know I think we all have a favorite
author. Who is your favorite author and why?
I don’t like to name specific favorite authors only
because I have so many! But if I’m forced, I like to say Jill Shalvis (adore
her adult romances), Lauren Layne (been on a real Lauren reading kick lately)
and Katie McGarry (she’s one of my favorite YA authors ever).
If you could time-travel would you
travel to the future or the past? Where would you like to go and why would you
like to visit this particular time period?
I think I’d like to go back in time to maybe Regency
England? Only so I could wear a pretty dress and dance with a dashing duke. But
then I’d get freaked out and want to come home because I’d miss electricity and
my iPhone. LOL
Do you have any little fuzzy friends?
Like a dog or a cat? Or any pets?
I have one dog (Oliver) and too many cats (um, six). We
live in the country so the majority of the cats stay outside and keep the pests
away, though some of them come in when it gets cold.
Thanks for taking time out of your busy
schedule to visit with us today.
Thank you so much for having me!!
