The Fog Amanda McKinney (A Berry Springs Novel)
Publication date: December 4th 2018
Genres: Adult, Mystery, Romance
Former Marine turned ballistics expert, Wesley Cross is known around town for two things, his rugged good-looks and cocky attitude—until he finds his ex-girlfriend lying in a puddle of blood in his basement. The scene screams setup, but the discovery of a rare gem and a puzzling autopsy suggests the murder goes much deeper than that. Wesley will do whatever it takes to clear his name, including calling in a notoriously headstrong—and sexy—scientist.
While most little girls were playing dress up, Gwyneth Reece was digging in the dirt collecting bugs. Now one of the top forensic entomologists in the country, Gwen reluctantly accepts a job from a pushy cowboy and travels to the small, Southern town of Berry Springs. Heavy storms are brewing, and when she’s forced to check into the creepiest hotel she’s ever seen, she instantly regrets her decision to help out the former Marine.
Following up on a tip, Wesley heads to the Half Moon Hotel but quickly realizes his visit was not by chance. The killer lured him there, and suddenly everyone from the uptight bellman to the wealthy couple just passing through town become suspect. Bodies begin to disappear, and Wesley knows the killer will do anything to get to him…. including hurting the woman who’s kept his head spinning since he first laid eyes on her.
My Review:
Wesley Cross comes home to find a woman dead in his
basement. This woman is an ex-girlfriend of his. Yeah it looks like Wes is the
killer. Wes knows how it looks to him so
it goes without saying that if it looks like a rat and smells like a rat then
it must be a rat. Yeah but Wes knows he is no killer and has to prove it to
clear his name and will do whatever it takes to do so.
Wes calls in an expert the top forensic entomologists in the
country to help prove him innocent. It takes a lot for Wes to talk Gwen into
taking the job but the price doesn’t seem to affect him. If he wants to stay
out of prison then no price is too high. There is an instant attraction between
the two from the beginning.
As the clues start to come in Wes gets one that takes him to
old creepy hotel and low and behold who does he see when he walks in the door.
No other but the hot and famous forensic entomologist, Gwen checking in. She
couldn’t get a flight out because of the storm with the heavy rains so it seems
is now stuck in Berry Springs for a while.
Wes soon figures out that the clues didn’t exactly lead him
to the hotel but he may have been lured there by the killer when the hot and
famous forensic entomologist comes up missing.
The Fog will keep you on the edge of your seat trying to
figure out who the killer is and just when you think you have it figured out
you realize may be you are wrong so here you go again trying to guess. The Fog
is a very creepy mystery that will suck you in and turning the pages one after
the other wanting to know what is around the next corner. I could just see the
fog rolling in surrounding all the characters feet on a cold dark wintry night
and I could almost hear this eerie music playing in the background.
If you like dark suspenseful books then you will love The
Fog. I would like to suggest that you pick up a copy today and start on this
suspenseful event.
