Avoiding Alpha
Alpha Girl #2
by Aileen Erin
Published: May 13, 2014
Publisher: Ink Monster, LLC
Genre: Paranormal, Young Adult
Blurb:
Seventeen-year-old Tessa McCaide has come a long way since
her abrupt entrance into the world of werewolves, but she still has just as far
to go before she’s comfortable with turning full wolf. In the meantime, she’s
avoiding the topic of shifting to four legs any way she can. Thankfully her
mate, Dastien Laurent, is quite the distraction.
When she finds her best friend, Meredith, getting sick in
the bathroom, Tessa knows something’s majorly wrong. Meredith was cursed years
ago, and the dark magic kept her wolf dormant—only now the wolf is awake, and
that same spell is killing her.
Tessa has no intention of sitting around while Meredith
wastes away. Even if it means playing with magic she doesn’t understand, she’ll
do anything to save Meredith’s life. Including bargaining with the local coven
of witches and its crazed leader, whose only goal is getting Tessa to join the
witchy ranks.
Can Tessa save her friend without losing herself?
My Review:
It has been a few weeks since Tessa was bitten and became a
werewolf. She hasn’t really accepted the fact that she is now a werewolf and
has not changed since her turning and the full moon is in a few days. She will
also be celebrating her eighteenth birthday on the full moon. She has finally
accepted Dastien as her mate and they will be having their mate bonding
ceremony on the full moon. I think Tessa is more upset about changing into a
werewolf than she is the bonding ceremony.
Her best friend Meredith becomes ill and werewolves do not
get sick. A few years ago a spell was placed on Meredith’s to keep her from
changing into a werewolf. Now her wolf wants out but the spell is blocking her
which in turn is making Meredith very sick. If they can’t find a way to help
her to control her wolf then she could die. Meredith is the first friend she
has ever had and Tessa will do anything she has to in order to save her best
friends life.
Tessa is one amazing girl. I have loved watching go from
being a shy girl that let everyone run over her to a very strong willed girl
that won’t let anyone control her and will not only stand up for herself but
her friends as well. Tessa will do anything to help Meredith even if it means
making a bargain with a very dark witch that would change her life forever and
not in the way that she would like. But if that is what it takes to save her
friend then she will do it.
Alpha Girls is an amazing series that I have fallen head
over heels in love with. I can’t get enough of it and can’t wait for more. I
love this werewolf world that Tessa, Dastien, Meredith, Chris and the other
characters live in. I love the True Mate thingy and their bonding.
There was this one scene (I won’t mention which one exactly
because of spoilers) that was so beautiful and amazing. I saw deeper than it
was actually portrayed for me it went so much deeper than how it read the only
words I have for it is amazing. I choked up when reading it real bad and I
thought if I had saw this on TV tears would be streaming down my face
uncontrollably. As I believe I have said before the Alpha Girl series would
make a fantastic TV series with many, many seasons.
I would recommend Avoiding Alpha to all fans of the
paranormal, witches and werewolves. If you like the TV show The Secret Circle
then you will love Avoiding Alpha.
