Action-packed and emotionally powerful like big- and small-screen hits such as The Sixth Sense and Supernatural, The Dark In-Between by Elizabeth Hrib is sure to stay with you long after the lights go out.
Something lurks in the shadows between life and death.
A terrible accident brings sixteen-year-old Casey Everett’s life to a halt—literally. Pulled from the water, Casey is rushed to the hospital and miraculously revived. But her sudden return to the living is shadowed by the drowning of her best friend, Liddy.
Overcome with grief, Casey returns home for the summer only to find the memories of the accident won’t let her go. Shadow-drenched nightmares. Whispers in the back of her mind. Her friend’s screams. Casey thinks she’s losing it… until she watches a boy fall from the sky.
Red—an angel fallen to earth to regain his wings—takes her to Limbo, a place that exists somewhere between the living and the dead. Now, in order to save her best friend, Casey must learn to walk these mysterious and dangerous paths or else risk losing Liddy’s trapped soul to something worse than death.
My Review:
Casey and her friend Liddy was at an end for the year party
when they were involved in a boating accident and both drowned. Casey was
brought back but Liddy was not. Casey is suffering the loss of her friend and The
Dark In-Between tells Casey’s story of how she deals with her friend’s death.
Casey is sitting in her car one day when a boy falls out of
the sky into the seat next to her. She learns that the boy, Red an angel who
has fallen to Earth to try and win his wings back by helping others. Red wants
to help Casey deal with the loss of her friend Liddy.
Everywhere Casey goes Liddy is there she sees her in
everything. Liddy is haunting Casey. Red explains that the reason Liddy is still
hanging around is that she is stuck in Limbo the world in-between. Casey finds
out that she has a special power where she can go to this world in-between and
help the people there to move on. Casey visits Limbo to find Liddy and help her
to cross over or move on.
The Dark In-Between is a very heart touching and heart
wrenching at the same time. There were parts of Casey’s story that left me in
tears. After I had finished reading The Dark In-Between and I looked back at
the story my heart just went out to Casey. I thought about the hurt, the pain
and the guilt she was feeling and how she didn’t want to let her friend go and
how she felt as if the whole thing was all her fault. It told me what kind of
person she was and what kind of heart she has.
Can Casey help her friend move on? Can Casey let Liddy go
and move on with her life? Can she find the peace she needs to overcome her
grief? Will she ever be able to let go of all the hurt and pain? All the
answers can be found between the pages of The Dark In-Between. One click your
copy of The Dark In-Between to find the answers and follow Casey on her journey
to the world in-between.
I highly recommend The Dark In-Between to anyone looking for
a good story.
