Blurb:

The first book in the spine-tingling Dark Matter trilogy about the frightening effects of a biological experiment gone wrong.

An epidemic is sweeping the country. It spreads fast, mercilessly. Everyone will be infected. . . . It is only a matter of time. You are now under quarantine.

Young teen Callie might have been one of the first to survive the disease, but unfortunately she didn't survive the so-called treatment. She was kidnapped and experimented upon at a secret lab, one that works with antimatter. When she breaks free of her prison, she unleashes a wave of destruction. Meanwhile her older brother Kai is looking for her, along with his smart new friend Shay, who was the last to see Callie alive.

Amid the chaos of the spreading epidemic, the teens must find the source of disease. Could Callie have been part of an experiment in biological warfare? Who is behind the research? And more importantly, is there a cure?

 My Review:

Contagion is told from two points of view, one is from a sixteen-year-old girl Shay and the other is a younger girl Callie. Callie went missing about a year ago and Shay was the last one to have seen her. When Shay realizes that Callie is missing she contacts Callie’s brother Kai. Kai has been searching for Callie ever since she went missing. Together Kai and Shay search for Callie and soon become very close as their friendship turns into something more.

We find out that Callie was kidnapped and taken to a remote location and was experimented on. Callie had contracted a very contagious flu like virus that quickly turned into a pandemic killing millions.

At first Shay and Kai work together to find Callie but after the pandemic sets in they help the ones who become sick with the deadly flu. They also work to find out where the virus came from and how it got started so fast. Who is behind the release of the virus? Who created the virus and why?

Contagion is a fast paced read that really kept the pages turning with lots of huge twists and turns from beginning to end. I loved that we got the story from both Callie and Shay’s point of view. There was this one big twist that I truly loved but never expected. Oh it was brilliant to say the least. I loved the world that was created for Contagion. I also loved the paranormal elements contained within the story which was a nice twist as well. I can’t wait to read more from this Dark Matter world to see where Shay and Kai take us next and to learn more about the virus.

I would recommend Contagion to all fans of dystopian, science fiction with a little romance on the side. One click your copy today!
