Humor/Chick Lit

In this collection of original drawings, LJ Rohan with her furry and endearing canine muse, George Eliot, navigates her humorous and grateful journey through life after 50. Despite inevitable setbacks, L.J. firmly believes growing older has never been healthier, more positive, or more empowered. To quote Pearl S. Buck, “The heart never grows old.” To quote L.J., “Be Vibrant!”
Interview with L.J. Rohan:
For those interested in exploring the subject or theme of your book, where should they start?
I have two aspects blended together in this book: my science-based practice of gerontology, (which encompasses our body, mind, and spirit) and my upbeat outlook that by adding a precious dog into one’s life and lightening our hearts by choosing to laugh at ourselves we will live and age more vibrantly!
How did you become involved with the subject or theme of your book?
As I mention in my Introduction, an artist friend suggested I add a visual component to my science-based, more serious, writings for my website, FB and IG posts. I have always loved clever cartoons. I decided creating funny, but upbeat, illustrations with my precious dog, George Eliot as the funny one and me as the straight (wo)man, reflecting universal moments we all experience both in having a dog and getting older, would be a hit. And, they are!
What were your goals and intentions in this book, and how well do you feel you achieved them?
My intention/goal was to gather into a collection some of the best illustrations I have published on my website, FB and IG pages during my first two years in practice as a gerontologist. I think I hit it out of the park.
Anything you would like to say to your readers and fans?
We are never too old to have fun and act young!
What did you enjoy most about writing this book?
Capturing the pitch-perfect moment in time and the dialog for each illustration.
Can you tell us a little bit about your next books or what you have planned for the future?
I envision a volume II of illustrations, like this one. At the right time, a science-based book on how women 55+ can change the course of their aging to live more vibrantly by adopting my top ten proven choices.
How long have you been writing?
For the three years I have been practicing gerontology.
Can you tell us a little bit about the characters in Live Vibrantly! With L.J. & Her Dog George Eliot ?
I am a 61 year old woman, who returned to school for a second career, at 56, to become a gerontologist. In my previous career I was an award-winning ASID interior designer, university instructor, and national speaker.
If you could spend the day with one of the characters from Live Vibrantly! With L.J. & Her Dog George Eliot who would it be? Please tell us why you chose this particular character, where you would go and what you would do.
Most definitely, I would choose to spend the entire day with George Eliot. He has the most interesting and most pampered life. Plus, he is so darn cute, people are mesmerized where ever he goes. With George in charge, after a delicious breakfast, we would go for a morning walk in the neighborhood, allowing time for ample sniffing stops, and pee intervals. Adoration would come naturally from any humans, or other intelligent animals, not those stupid squirrels, we happened to encounter on our preamble. A restorative nap follows. Later, some ball throwing and/or a game of toy keep-away would be followed by another much needed nap. Dinner signals the transition from the day into our shared evening with our other human housemate, Mr. Rohan. Right now, as we are in winter, the evenings are quiet with George light resting by the fire with his favorite stuff-less one-footed, beakless duck at his side. It is then off to bed in his comfy bed to dream the dreams of the innocent and anticipate another day just like this one.
