No one thought the Gods would descend. Plucked from his reality, Griffyn never thought that the Gods would be so terrified of him even when a Titan stood before them. The Red Hand entrusted him with the only sword that allows him to fight back: the Masamune.

Now that the Gods have sworn to eliminate humanity, the Empire has fallen, ravished and turned to dust. The Magmars are no more, and he alone holds the key to salvation.

He has endured many losses, but will he succumb and accept his fate? Or will he rise from beneath a thousand ashes?

To win, he must quell the Titans within him and tame them. But every time he uses their power, he risks losing himself.

Excerpt:

It was afternoon. The sun basked in all its glory and casted shadows upon two dozen men and women who stood still, as silent as the grave. They tried not to gaze nor shift their attention when the doors to the barracks barged open.

In walked a man who dressed in light brown attire. He was bold, his skin tone closer to brown than white. He was at least six feet tall and had broad shoulders. Darting grey eyes kept shifting upon his surroundings as he meticulosity approached the crowd that had gathered.

“Recruits,” he shouted, and they all stomped their feet. “I’ve been told that you lot have volunteered to play safe keepers to the safest city in mankind’s history.”

A grin slowly shaped on his face. “I can’t help but wonder why...is it bravery? Or plain idiocy? I suppose there’s one way to find out,” he added as he kept walking parallel to them.

“You,” he stopped. “Come forth,” his tone brooked no argument. He kept his gaze upon the man that obeyed.

“Sir.”

“What is your name?”

“Donovan Skully, sir.”

“And what is it you do, Skully?”

“I was a farmer, sir.”

“And what did you use to farm?”

“Cucumbers, apples and corn, sir.”

“And why is it that you decided to cast all that out and join us in this shithole?”

“The world is in chaos, sir...I’ve a daughter I want to keep safe.”

“And who will keep them safe when you shit your life away?” he smirked at him. “Back in line,” he demanded and moved on towards another.

“You, step forth,” he signaled a man with his finger.

“Sir.”

“And what did you use to be before coming here?”

“Military, sir.”

“Oh, royalty!” The man gasped. “How did you end up here?”

“After the Capital fell, a few soldiers were sent defending the outskirt villages, sir.”

“And you left your post and ran all the way here, is that right? Sir?” the man mimicked.

“I disagree with you, sir.”

“Oh, is that right?”

“That’s right, sir. Retreating to fight another battle is a winning strategy, sir.”

The man paused for a moment, and then burst into laughter. The people gathered didn’t know what to make of it. Confusion spread amongst them. “You disagree with me?” he said as he stepped closer towards him.

“Let me tell you something, son,” He grabbed the man from his shirt and pulled him closer. He locked his eyes with his. “Whatever strategy you think you know means absolute shit here, do you hear me?”

“I hear you, sir,” the soldier shot back at him.

“In war, there is only the strength to move forward. All of your captain cunts will have you running like the shits you are, but they will never tell you the truth; strategy means shit if those following it are worthless cunts like you.”

Silence. His words rang true in everyone’s mind. Whatever went on in the Capital had echoed across the entire continent, but not one of them could doubt how true his words felt.

“Get back in fucking line,” he broke the silence, and the soldier backed away.

“I know what you lot are thinking. And you’re probably right. We don’t know what the fuck is going on, but there is one thing for certain; Ospis has always fended off any form of attack, whatever it may be,” he said before he cleared his throat. “Do you think it is because those who tried didn’t try hard enough?”

As he was talking, a tall man approached. He wore a broad jacket that hung on his shoulders loosely. His hair was blonde. He stepped closer and placed his hand on the man’s shoulder. “Kog?”

“I want you to remember one thing and one thing only; the world owes you shit. It was here first. None of you retain the rights nor the titles that you once did before you stepped inside these walls. You will all train, and train hard. But what merit you have will depend on your skill and hard work alone.”

He took a good look at the men. “Is that clear?” he demanded, and they all nodded in unison. “Dismissed!” he barked and all of them moved in the opposite direction.

My Review:

We join Griffyn once again on his many, many battles against the Gods. Griffyn is still missing and morning his dear friends. Griffyn feels that everything that went down was his fault, that he is too blame for it all.

I felt his pain deeply and felt so bad for him. I wanted to reach into the book and give him a great big hug. Griffyn makes a few new friends along the way but doesn’t believe he deserves them. He is afraid that what happened before will happen again.

The Gods have decided to destroy all of humanity believing they are unfit to live or to carry on. Although he is a little bit afraid Griffyn has pledged to go against the Gods to save the human race. Can he prevail? Does he have what it takes to stand against the Gods? Can he endure one more battle? Or will he let his grief and guilt overtake him?

As with its predecessor, Titanlord: Of Death & Sacrifice, Titanlord: A Thousand Ashes was filled with battle after battle as well. I could see the battles playing out in my head. I think the battle scenes were my favorite parts. Titanlord: A Thousand Ashes kept me on the edge of my seat anxiously waiting for what was around the next corner. All the characters were just as amazing and fit into the story so well.

The action was non stop as Griffyn worked so hard to save the human race. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough as the adrenaline just poured out pushing me toward the end to see how it all would eventually turn out. I am now sitting here as I write my review just thinking about Titanlord: A Thousand Ashes, wondering and pondering on the next book and what it has in store for us.

I would recommend Titanlord: A Thousand Ashes to all fantasy fans. One-click your copy of Titanlord: A Thousand Ashes today! However I do recommend that you read Titanlord: Of Death & Sacrifice first though to begin this epic adventure!
