Genre: YA Fantasy
Release Date: June 5th 2018
Entangled Teen

Summary:

Zera is a Heartless—the immortal, unaging soldier of a witch. Bound to the witch Nightsinger ever since she saved her from the bandits who murdered her family, Zera longs for freedom from the woods they hide in. With her heart in a jar under Nightsinger’s control, she serves the witch unquestioningly.

Until Nightsinger asks Zera for a prince’s heart in exchange for her own, with one addendum: if she’s discovered infiltrating the court, Nightsinger will destroy Zera’s heart rather than see her tortured by the witch-hating nobles.

Crown Prince Lucien d’Malvane hates the royal court as much as it loves him—every tutor too afraid to correct him and every girl jockeying for a place at his darkly handsome side. No one can challenge him—until the arrival of Lady Zera. She’s inelegant, smart-mouthed, carefree, and out for his blood. The prince’s honor has him quickly aiming for her throat.

So begins a game of cat and mouse between a girl with nothing to lose and a boy who has it all.

Winner takes the loser’s heart.

Literally.

My Review:

Zera is a Heartless. Her heart was taken by a witch who keeps it in a jar. As long as the witch has her heart then she will be under her control. Zera wants her heart back and makes plans everyday on how she can possibly get it back.

The witches are at war with the humans but they would like for this to end. How do they plan on stopping a war? The answer is simple by having control of the Prince of course by taking his heart. The witch that has Zera’s heart says she will give her heart back to her if she will bring her his heart.

It is time for Prince Lucien to pick his bride to rule by his side. Girls are sent in for the Prince to wine and dine so to speak. The witches send Zera in to be one of these lucky ladies. Once inside and when the time is right Zera will take Lucien’s heart.

The Prince is not quite the person Zera was expecting him to be. Turns out he was a lot nicer of a person than he has been portrayed to be. When Zera starts to get to know Lucien and sees what kind of person he really is her heart starts to pound or at least it would if she had one. Zera can’t let herself start to have feelings for the Prince if she is to take his heart so that she can get hers back. What is a girl to do?

I loved seeing and being witness to the relationship that was developing between Zera and Lucien. I also loved Zera’s wittiness. She always had to something to come back with. She never let anyone get one over on her. She made me laugh on more than one occasion. It kept me wanting to turn the pages to see what she was going to say next. With each turn of the page I kept wondering well is she going to take his heart now?

I would recommend Bring Me Their Hearts to all fans of fantasy novels with hint of romance.

About the Author

Sara Wolf is a twenty-something author who adores baking, screaming at her cats, and screaming at herself while she types hilarious things. When she was a kid, she was too busy eating dirt to write her first terrible book. She lives in San Diego with two cats, a crippling-yet-refreshing sense of self-doubt, and not enough fruit tarts ever.
