Excerpt:
Lisa parted her lips to say
something. Maybe she was going to protest about his wet clothes. No. He’d had
enough talking. He bent and touched her mouth. He meant it to be a quick,
stolen kiss, but as soon as he tasted her he wanted more. This might be his
only chance.
She gripped his shoulders before her
arms slid around him, tightening as though afraid he’d disappear. Forever they
stood their tongues tangling together until he could take no more of the heat,
the urgency. His fingers were entwined in her hair holding on to her. Never
letting her go. The need to run his free hand over each part of her body and
listen to her gasps grew into full-blown lust.
“Upstairs,” he said, his voice
hoarse.
“Three floors?” She tipped her head
back and raised her brows.
“Right.” Five years. Five years
without her. He fisted the ends of her white button-down shirt in both his
hands before whipping it open. Buttons popped off and dinged on the wooden
surface. Underneath she wore a blue lacy bra.
Banks’s entire unit couldn’t stop
him now. He yanked off her top, tossed it aside, and swallowed to keep his
tongue in his mouth. “Way too far.” He lowered Lisa stared up at him. Her brown
eyes were full of questions and a sadness he longed to erase. Had she thought
of him much during the years he’d been away?

My Review:
Five years ago a man went to prison for kidnapping a young
girl Lisa Raynes and now he has escaped. Lisa is afraid that he has returned to
Hawick Falls to punish her for sending him to prison.
Lisa’s ex-boyfriend and nephew of her kidnapper left her
five years ago to start a new life. Now five years later Travis Bodell is back
and standing on her doorstop telling her that is uncle escaped and he is worried
that he is on his way to Hawick Falls for Lisa.
When a teenage girl goes missing Lisa is afraid that her
kidnapper is back and it is him that has taken the teen. When she starts to receive
threatening message it scares her knowing that the man who kidnapped her is out
there and looking for her.
Lisa is not on to sit around and do nothing so she starts an
investigation of her own into the disappearance of the teenager. She knows what
this girl is going through and is racing against the clock hoping to find her
before it is too late.
Lisa’s ex-boyfriend is being accused of showing up in town
to help his uncle. Travis has a reputation that is following him around from
his youth. Lisa doesn’t think that Travis is involved with his uncle. Lisa
knows what kind of person Travis is and just because he has made some mistakes
in his past doesn’t make him a bad boy besides people change.
Lisa has come a long way since her kidnapping but at the
same time she still has a lot to deal with. But she is a very brave girl to not
think about her own feelings when another girls life hangs in the balance.
Lisa and Travis team up to help find the missing girl. Can
they find her before it is too late? Can they prove that Travis is not here to
help his uncle? Or is Travis’s uncle the kidnapper this time?
Midnight Girl was very fast paced read that hooked me from
the first word. It is filled with lots of mystery and suspense on every page.
It likes to hold onto all of its secrets not wanting to turn them loose keeping
you flipping those pages to find out whodunit and how everything will connect
in the end.
Midnight Girl is the first book in the Love & Mystery in
the 6-oh-3 series that I have read and even though it is the fourth book in the
series I never felt as if I was missing anything. I knew going in that it was
the fourth book but was hoping that it wouldn’t matter and I was right it didn’t
matter in the least even though we weren’t given much detail on Lisa’
kidnapping we got just enough so we wouldn’t feel as if we were missing out.
But it would have been nice to have known more about their lives before.
I would recommend Midnight Girl to all fans of mystery and suspense
with a little romance on the side.
