NBTM Virtual Book Tour + #Giveaway: Thea Reeves and The Tear of the Morning Star by Dmitriy Kushnir @DmitriyKushnir @GoddessFish

Thea Reeves and The Tear of the Morning Star
by Dmitriy Kushnir
GENRE: YA Fiction

BLURB:

Thea Reeves is an ordinary girl, from an ordinary family with financial troubles, living in a small town of Johnston. After she starts an after school job at The Magic Shop in order to help herself financially, her life becomes more extraordinary with every day.

Excerpt:

What a strange man.  Thea thought to herself, and after a brief pause took the empty coffee cups to the back room and loaded them into the dishwasher.

Just after five o'clock The Magic Shop began to fill up with customers.  Many went straight for the lounge, while others shopped.  Even though Thea found herself constantly running from the register to the lounge to the dishwasher and back to the register, she did not feel tired at all ... she felt energized.  She even had a few very interesting conversations with several patrons of The Magic Shop.  All of whom welcomed the new girl and wanted her to know how happy they were to meet her.  Just as the evening before, everyone was very nice and friendly, no one was upset with her for any reason.  Even when Thea accidentally dropped a tray of empty coffee cups and even broke a few.  No one laughed, no one made a silly joke.  Instead, everyone wanted to know if she was alright, and one man, in his mid twenties, in a suit with a tie, offered to help Thea clean up.  He even took a broom from Thea's hand and offered to sweep up, while she helped the customers at the register.

This place is magical.  Thea thought to herself, just as the rush traffic died down right around seven o'clock.  She had about an hour left, before she had to lock up the shop, so she decided to clean up.  She felt that it was something she wanted to do, rather than something she had to do.

Then, suddenly, as if some invisible force was pulling her, she went into the back room.

"Over here..." she suddenly heard, and she did not know whether she heard those words with her ears or with her mind.  She should've been frightened, her heart should've been beating wildly in her throat ... but she just casually walked, following the voice.

Interview with Dmitriy Kushnir

As a writer, what would you choose as your mascot/avatar/spirit animal? This is actually a very good question.  If I had to choose a spirit animal for myself, I'd say it would have to be a black raven.

How many hours a day do you put into your writing?
My writing depends on how inspired I am on any given day and on my prior commitments.  I can spend anywhere from an hour to ten hours a day writing.  I prefer not to spend much time in front of a computer monitor, so for every two hours of writing, I spend an hour outdoors enjoying nature.

Do you read your book reviews? If yes, do they affect what you write in the future?

Yes, I do read my book reviews, but they do not affect my future writings.  The feedback I receive from the readers who put in a bit of extra effort, seek me out and get in touch with me is the one I consider for future books.  I once even co-wrote a book with one of my readers.

Do you leave hidden messages in your books that only a few people will find?
Yes.  Many of my books have hidden messages and hidden wisdoms that only select few will understand.

Can you tell us a little bit about the characters in Thea Reeves and The Tear of the Morning Star?
Thea Reeves series is centered around Thea Reeves, a sixteen year old girl, who had a worry free life up until she started a part time job at a local magic shop.

Can you tell us a little bit about your next books or what you have planned for the future?
I am currently working on the sequels of Thea Reeves series.  I have at least 9 books planned and already have 4 books completed.

Do you allow yourself a certain number of hours to write or do you write as long as the words come?
I write only for as long as I mentally and physically can.  I love writing, but it does not pay the bills, so I have other full time ventures I dedicate much of my time to.  If I have the time and the inspiration, I write!

Do you have a certain number of words or pages you write per day?
No, but if I begin writing, I always try to keep it over a thousand words per a "sit down".  I will not be distracted, until I have written at least a thousand words.

What inspires you to write?
My family.  I once went on a business trip and was far away from my family.  Even though I had plenty of free time, I did not write a single word during the entire trip.
