If you enjoy reality bending sci-fi like Inception, The Matrix, and Waking Life, you'll love Mirrors!

All Sarah wants is to find her father. All Sam wants is a sense of purpose amidst her seemingly perfect life. What they find is much more than either of them bargained for.

Sarah has been searching for her missing father for the past four years. Sam has a seemingly perfect life, but something is missing. A set of strange circumstances and the onset of confusing visions sets them searching for answers. Individually they discover the answers the other needs: a secret formula, the answers to the disappearance of Sarah’s father, and a shadowy organization that seems to hold the key.

As the visions increase in intensity and frequency, and the women struggle to keep a grip on reality, they embark on a journey to understand what it all means. The connection that exists between them has larger implications than they can imagine, and they are not the only ones who know about it. They must work together, with a newly forged team of friends to evade capture and protect a mind-bending formula from getting into the wrong hands.

Sarah and Sam must become connected, truly connected, and discover their true purpose as the lives they once knew unravel before them.  With everything they cherish on the line, can Sarah and Sam solve the mystery of their connection before time runs out?

Interview with Sonya Deulina Williams

As a writer, what would you choose as your mascot/avatar/spirit animal?
My spirit animal would be an owl. Anyone who knows me, knows that I love birds. As a bird of prey, I would have super senses and could fly anywhere I wanted to, see anything. It would give me the ultimate freedom.

How many hours a day do you put into your writing?
I try to write every day. Sometimes that doesn’t happen, unfortunately. On average I try to put about an hour a day into my writing. On a really good day, I can get several hours in.

Do you read your book reviews?
Of course! The book reviews provide me with feedback on what the readers think, and that is so important. Even their criticism can give me perspective and perhaps direction. Of course, there will always be people who don’t like my writing and leave scathing reviews. However, not everyone is going to like your writing, just like not everyone is going to like you, and that’s okay.

Do you leave hidden messages in your books that only a few people will find?
That is such a neat idea! No, unfortunately I did not do anything that crafty. However, with my book I allude to some more spiritual themes like synchronicity and following your intuition to reach your highest potential, which I think certain people will pick up on, and others may not.

Can you tell us a little bit about the characters in Mirrors?
Sarah and Sam are the two main characters. They are similar in many ways, but different in personality. Sarah marches to the beat of her own drum. She is driven by an obsession to find her missing father and sometimes spends significant amounts of times in isolation with her one-track mind. Sam is a successful business executive with a ritzy life, but equal amounts of disquietude. Lucas is one of my favorite characters. He is a quirky detective, that looks like he came from a different time. There is also Chip, a mysterious character. He is a somewhat paranoid scientist and definitely a multi-faceted character.

Can you tell us a little bit about your next books or what you have planned for the future?
I am working on the sequel to “Mirrors” right now, continuing the story and introducing some exciting new technology, plot twists and characters. I think like my last book, it will be fast-paced, and there will be a lot of mystery involved, so stay tuned!

Do you allow yourself a certain number of hours to write or do you write as long as the words come?
I write as long as the words come and as long as I have time. I think it would be easier if I was a full-time writer, but I am not at this time. However, sometimes having a very limited amount of time to write during the week motivates me even more to squeeze it in wherever and whenever I can.

Do you have a certain number of words or pages you write per day?
I do aim for 500 words a day, sometimes I write less, and sometimes I write more. I think it’s helpful to set a goal.

What inspires you to write?
I am inspired by things I watch and read. There are some really interesting ideas floating out there! Also, the day to day inspires me, conversations, passersby, people I meet. Music helps me focus my creative energy when I do write. I think tuning in and becoming more aware of my own thoughts can inspire me, as weird as that sounds. I think, like a lot of people, that I can be hyper-focused on whatever I make myself focus on, and completely miss the organic and interesting thoughts trying to come through.

Would you rather

Read fiction or non-fiction?
I do enjoy both, but I tend to read more fiction.

Read series or stand-alone?
Both! I love both equally, just depends on the book. I think I have read more stand-alone novels in general.

Read Science fiction or horror?
So hard to choose! Again, Science Fiction is what I am generally more drawn to.

Read Stephen King or Dean Koontz?
Koontz. I grew up on Koontz and his books were some of the first that got me interested in science fiction/horror as a teen.

Read the book or watch the movie?
Definitely read the book. You get so much more juicy detail from a book, though I have seen some pretty great movies based on books.

Read an ebook or paperback?
I love the feel of a paperback and enjoy that much more. However, an ebook is more convenient so I tend to read those more often.

Be trapped alone for one month in a library with no computer or a room with a computer and Wi-Fi only?
Okay, I would have to say a room with a computer and Wi-Fi. If I am trapped alone for a month, I can read the news online and get on social media to talk to my friends and family, maybe even call them! I can also access my kindle from the computer and read my books on there!

Do a cross-country bookstore tour or blog tour online?
I think a cross-country bookstore tour would be more fun, because I can meet people in person and see the country. However, an online blog tour is more convenient, and I can reach more people faster! So at this point in my life I would say online blog tour.

About the Author

 photo Sonya_photo_zpsf3wb1suq.jpg
Sonya Deulina Williams was born in Moscow, Russia in 1989. She immigrated to the United States, specifically to Greensboro, North Carolina, with her family in 1994 with refugee status, to flee anti-semitism. This journey would become a major influence over her later years.

As an only child, Sonya was prone to day dreaming and loved drawing. Both of her parents are artists/painters. In high school and college, Sonya developed an interest in psychology and specifically how art and psychology could merge to bring insight and healing. So, she majored in Creative Writing and Psychology, and went on to intern/work in a variety of settings facilitating mental health and expressive arts interventions for refugee children and folks with various mental health issues. She later went on to get her Masters in Social Work.

Sonya loves incorporating expressive arts into her therapy work and psychological elements into her writing. She especially enjoys when fiction and reality blur, so that the reader finds themselves asking, "Could this be possible?" Naturally, Sonya gravitated to scifi and began writing her first novel "Mirrors" in 2015.

Currently, Sonya lives in Jamestown, North Carolina with her husband Greg and their three parrots. She enjoys binge watching scifi/psychological thrillers, going to the beach, acrylic painting, blasting her music, and spending time with her loved ones.
