Dallas August runs a dangerous business—an organization of elite spies for hire.

The secrets trade.

Nothing is off limits, and no price is too high.

When asked to uncover what recluse Gwen Marsh knows about a Mafia kingpin’s death, Dallas poses as a bodyguard to get close to his target, but the stubborn Asian beauty wants nothing to do with him. As the FBI and the Mafia close in, danger drives them together, but can he protect Gwen, or will Dallas be the one risking everything to discover what she is really hiding?

Dallas August is about to find out how dangerous life can be as one of the Secret Brokers.

Once you are in, there is no turning back.

Interview with Alexandrea Weis:

For those interested in exploring the subject or theme of your book, where should they start? It is about a man finding his way back from being broken-his heart and his spirit. After falling hard for Nicci Beauvoir, Dallas August leaves his job as a spy for hire. But then the woman he loves leaves him for another, and he returns to selling secrets, figuring that's all he knows how to do. Eventually, he learns to come to terms with who he is and what he does. Dallas August discovers the life he believed he wanted with Nicci was never the life for him. He heals and evolves.

How did you become involved with the subject or theme of your book? I have been an Ian Fleming fan since a young age and wanted to write a spy tale. The Secret Brokers is a spy tale with a twist. Dallas August is a man dealing with conflict and taking on the challenges of his dark world the best he can.

What were your goals and intentions in this book, and how well do you feel you achieved them? I wanted readers to feel Dallas's pain, and see him as the ruthless spy he is. I wanted him to be as real as the man walking next to you on the street, but someone living a very different life. I wanted to show a different kind of spy who struggles with all the same issues we do-loss, hope, despair. I hope I achieved that goal.

Anything you would like to say to your readers and fans? I have always appreciated all the support and kind words. Thank you for following my tales, I hope you like this newest adventure.

What did you enjoy most about writing this book? I live writing thrillers and suspense, mixed with a little romance. They have always been my favorite to read and writing them is just as fulfilling.

Can you tell us a little bit about your next books or what you have planned for the future? My next book will be a Christmas romance filled with ghosts and suspense, called The Christmas Tree. It comes out in October. In 2021, the second book in the St. Benedict Series, the follow-up to Death by the River, will be out in February.

How long have you been writing? Since I was eight. It was something I hoped one day to make a career out of. Storytelling, weaving a tale, has always been something I love to do.

Can you tell us a little bit about the characters in The Secret Brokers? Dallas August runs a spy for hire company where he puts the perfect spy, or specialist, with the perfect target, or person from which secrets must be extracted. He left the business but returns to take over the day-to-day running. When he is forced to take a mission, he meets a woman who helps him come to terms with his broken heart. But Gwen Marsh isn't what she seems, and in the end, Dallas gets more than he bargained for. There are secondary characters who fill his office and his life, each intriguing and sometimes comical. Cleveland, his muscle-bound, but doting security guard, and his second-in-command, the dapper and devious, Stokes.

If you could spend the day with one of the characters from The Secret Brokers who would it be? Please tell us why you chose this particular character, where you would go and what you would do. Dallas, without a doubt. He is a challenging character to write, but also fascinating to me. He has a soft side and a tough side and often debates how to reconcile the two with the world he delves in. Just to spend time with him, see him in action, and talk about his adventures, would be fantastic.
