Rei was nosey. She’d been told it would always get her in trouble, but it never did. Until she met Megan, who promised her the job of a lifetime. Sure, the high school newspaper wasn’t the ideal job for most, but for Rei, it was a dream. She’d never considered putting her investigative nature to work, but what Megan was asking her to do was way beyond the requirements of a school newspaper. It was part of an underground news-for favor-service. Her partners, Asher and Eli, annoyed her by never trusting her to do a job alone. Maybe, this one time she should have listened, because being trapped with no one to bail her out may surely be the death of Rei. Spilling the secrets about her family she’d been withholding, will place every one of them in grave and serious danger.

Interview with LM Preston

For those interested in exploring the subject or theme of your book, where should they start?

The book has so many integrated themes from angels, fairies, and more. The major theme is centered on the characters, Rei in Break the Darkness and her siblings as they are sucked into a world that they’d never imagined, and find that the only way free of it, is to gather their resolve through a spark of their inner strength.

How did you become involved with the subject or theme of your book?

Writing young adult fiction is a passion project for me since my kids were around the age of my characters when they asked me to read them my stories.

What were your goals and intentions in this book, and how well do you feel you achieved them?

My goal is to show that you don’t have to appear strong to have a unimaginable strength and wit will get you a long way.

Anything you would like to say to your readers and fans?

No matter what life give you, it’s about how you respond to it.

What did you enjoy most about writing this book?

It allows me to create a puzzle and mystery for my readers to play within.

Can you tell us a little bit about your next books or what you have planned for the future?

The coming books will be part of this series, there is three more expected. The series books are: Books in the Series:

Insatiable Darkness (Book 0)

Caged Fire (Book 1)

Unbreakable Darkness (Book 1.5)

Scepter Of Fire (Book 2)

Break The Darkness (Book 2.5)

Rebel of Fire (Book 3) anticipated 2021

Sword of Darkness (Book 3.5) anticipated 2021

Blade Of Fire (Book 4) anticipated 2022

How long have you been writing?

I’ve been a published author for over ten years. However, I’ve been writing for over thirty years.

Can you tell us a little bit about the characters in Break the Darkness?

The main character in Break the Darkness is Rei, who is a curious, and bit nosey one of the Lewis siblings. She signs up to be a reporter for the school newspaper, never suspecting the way her mistakes and meddling affect the safety of her family and the control of her soul.

If you could spend the day with one of the characters from Break the Darkness who would it be? Please tell us why you chose this particular character, where you would go and what you would do.

I’d want to spend a day with Megan, the manager and editor of the school newspaper – who happens to be Rei’s boss. Megan is mysterious, but has a story to tell about all she meet. She is my most evasive character, even though she has a manipulative hand in each book.
