He's tired of running. She's looking for an escape. Can they find a home together?

Joshua Canfield spent the last year hiding from killers. He’s done things he can never confess, especially not to the loved ones he was protecting. All he wants now is to reunite with his family and live a peaceful life.

Lila Grainger has one goal in life. To earn enough money to leave Providence Island and a family with no regard for the law far behind. She never expected to meet someone like Joshua. He’s the finest man she’s ever known, and he sees her as a woman, not as a Grainger. But she can’t expect him to leave his family to follow her.

Neither of them knows that a new threat lingers on Providence Island. One that puts Lila in danger and could expose Joshua’s past.

Interview with Dianna Wilkes

For those interested in exploring the subject or theme of your book, where should they start?

The theme through the series is Family and how the family unit is not always based on a blood connection. Throughout the series, families also come into existence through relationships built on love, trust, and respect.

How did you become involved with the subject or theme of your book?

I’ve been interested in genealogy since I was a teenager. It’s been fascinating to trace my own family lines over the centuries.

What were your goals and intentions in this book, and how well do you feel you achieved them?

The original plan for the series was a trilogy with each book having a romance set against the mystery of Dana Canfield’s past. At the end of South Point, Book 3, there were stories left to be told for the characters who’d played important parts in the previous books. Crossroads picks up with Joshua Canfield’s story and a new mystery. It ties up several open threads from the previous books and opens up one or two new ones for the next book.

Anything you would like to say to your readers and fans?

Thank you so much for your interest and support. If you haven’t visited my website yet (www.diannawilkes.com), stop by and check out the Reader Extras section which includes book trailers and character photos. If you’re on Facebook, be sure to visit my page and say hello. I love hearing from readers!

What did you enjoy most about writing this book?

The romance between Joshua and Lila. They came from different economic and social backgrounds, but both suffered tragedies in their lives. The growing friendship between Joshua and Ben Hampshire also was fun to write.

Can you tell us a little bit about your next books or what you have planned for the future?

I’m working on Boardwalk, Book 5 in the Providence Island Series with Ben and Stacy as the lead couple and, of course, another murder mystery. I also have a cozy series in the planning stages (tentatively titled Brick Wall Investigations) about a genealogist.

How long have you been writing?

My first memory of writing was as a child (age 8-9). If a TV show ended with scenes from the next episode, my sister and I would write stories based on those scenes. Our stories never came close to the actual episode, but it was the foundation for finding inspiration and crafting my own stories and good practice for meeting a deadline.

Can you tell us a little bit about the characters in Crossroads?

Lila is a member of the infamous Grainger family. Her goal is to leave Providence Island for a place where she won’t be judged by her last name. Joshua Canfield is trying to settle into a new life and reconnect with his own family. He’s the one man Lila trusts when a secret from her past erupts. One of the open threads from the previous book is addressed in Crossroads, one of which puts Ben Hampshire’s freedom at risk.

If you could spend the day with one of the characters from Crossroads, who would it be? Please tell us why you chose this particular character, where you would go and what you would do.

Dana Canfield. We’d go shopping and have lunch at the Lighthouse Cantina. Since I’m a visitor, she’d give me a tour of Main Street Village where I’d pick up a few souvenirs at the Take Me Home Gift Shop. After that, we’d browse and maybe buy something at Caine’s Jewelers. Next would be a sneak peak at the display condo at The Dennison and I’d pick Dana’s brain for some decorating tips. Finally, we’d go back to her house where Nick (sigh) would cook dinner on the grill. Sounds like a good day, doesn’t it?
