Frankie Shep is out one night looking for a missing calf when she finds human remains. Frankie has always hoped to find old bones on her cattle ranch in Wyoming. She has always had hopes of finding Native American bones.
Frankie enlist the help of an old friend, Harbin, a forensic anthropologist to see if the bones are Native American. After examining the bones, Harbin informs her that the bones are not that old and that they could be the bones of her missing mother who disappeared from her own bed in the middle of the night almost twenty years ago.
Frankie has had a rough life and now she finds the bones of her mother on her ranch. Frankie has been a sort of shut-in for a long time now. Frankie lost her husband and son a few years back. Then her father walked out on her leaving her to run their cattle ranch all by herself. I imagine Frankie went into a sort of depression after losing everyone in her life in such a short period of time.
Frankie’s mother’s bones are not the only bones found that night on her cattle ranch. No there were at least two more sets of bones found that night. It looks as if she has a serial killer on her hands. One that is burying bodies on her land.
When her mother’s bones are found Frankie contacts her father but he is nowhere to be found. Where is her father? Is it in hiding? If so what is he hiding from? Or better yet who is he hiding from?
