Blurb:

He hasn’t been Aleksandr Sergeyevich Volonov, legendary monster-hunting assassin for ten years. Now, he is only Sasha, charming deckhand on a merchant airship so recently destroyed by pirates.

All he wants is to find another job and keep moving. But that simple plan is thwarted when his sister sends an assassin to murder him. His only choice is to return to Saint Petersburg and renounce his claim to his family’s title.

Trapped by his late father’s machinations, Sasha finds himself surrounded by death threats, engaged to a brutal villainess, shadowed by his cheeky assassin, and forced to lead the organization bent on eliminating all supernatural creatures from the Russian Empire.

As he struggles to keep hold on the man he is, Sasha must face who he used to be in this modern steampunk fantasy adventure full of folklore, banter, and artifice.

Praise:

“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Wonderful characters and gorgeous settings!...With secrets and just the right amount of sizzle, Lieber's latest steampunk fantasy has something for everyone.”

M.K. Wiseman, author of Sherlock Holmes & the Ripper of Whitechapel

The Assassin’s Legacy...incorporated adventure, action, magic, and elements of romance to make a gripping novel. I held my breath for the most part. Betrayal, the ambitious nature of humans, family politics, and the quest for power were on full display.”

Readers' Favorite

Lieber's choice of a Russian setting stands out within the genre. And just as refreshing as this choice is, so too is the writing easy to navigate and crisp with detail... The storyline is engaging and should keep readers turning the pages.”
US Review of Books

D. Lieber excels in crafting a fantasy steeped in intrigue, diabolical threats, changing interpersonal relationships, and Russian culture… Its special blend of intrigue, fantasy, and psychological self-inspection will enthrall readers to the end.”

My Review:

The Assassin’s Legacy starts out with a bang as Sasha is being attacked by an assassin sent by his sister and it never lets up from beginning to end. Sasha used to be an assassin himself ten years ago.

Sasha’s assassin informs him that his father has died and he must return to his home to take his rightful place within his family’s legacy. Sasha has never wanted to be a leader or an assassin.

The Assassin’s Legacy was filled with battle after battle and they did not always contain literal fighting. No, I do believe that just about every one of the characters was battling battles of their own within themselves. I think they were all trying to hide from themselves and everyone around them.

They kept fighting for and going after the wrong things and most of the time they would fail. I think deep down they knew they would fail. They never truly believed in themselves.

The Assassin’s Legacy was filled with so many twists and action that I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. With each twist, I wanted more. I wanted to know how each battle was going to turn out. I wanted to know who would get what they truly wanted. I really enjoyed reading Sasha’s story and I can’t wait to read more stories set in this world of assassins. It is going to be so hard waiting for the next book to make its appearance.

I would recommend The Assassin’s Legacy to anyone who likes a good science fiction fantasy novel. Grab your copy of The Assassin’s Legacy today!

Author Bio:

D. Lieber has a wanderlust that would make a butterfly envious. When she isn’t planning her next physical adventure, she’s recklessly jumping from one fictional world to another. Her love of reading led her to earn a Bachelor’s in English from Wright State University.

Beyond her skeptic and slightly pessimistic mind, Lieber wants to believe. She has been many places—from Canada to England, France to Italy, Germany to Russia—believing that a better world comes from putting a face on “other.” She is a romantic idealist at heart, always fighting to keep her feet on the ground and her head in the clouds.

Lieber lives in Wisconsin with her husband (John) and cats (Yin and Nox).
