Blurb:
Bullets and bones, bullets and bones…wicked, greedy men.
Winter's whole world is tilting upside down. Her mom and
aunt want to sell their property, and if that happens, Winter will lose her
ghostly best friend, Garrett. Even worse, he's continuing to pull away,
distancing himself from her.
Now that the Malleys' fortunes have fallen, too, Winter
finds herself allied with her former competitors. It's a race to uncover that
which the ghosts most want to keep hidden, but the price for success might be
too high for Winter to pay.
My Review:
When Winter finds out that her mom and aunt are still
discussing selling Lago Caverns she has to find a way for them to keep it.
Winter has been working in the family business ever since she was a little
girl. Winter loves doing tours of the caverns and telling ghost stories to their
customers. Winter is also in love with one their permeant residents at the
caverns a ghost named Garrett.
Winter has an idea of how to save the caverns but it may be
too danger for her alone. So when she learns of her best friend’s family’s predicament
she enlists their help for her idea. If what she has in mind works out then it
could benefit both families but could also put all of their lives in peril.
Winter’s plan to save the family business could also mean
she loses her boyfriend Garrett but he has been distance as of late anyways.
Garrett is not coming around as much anymore. He tries to tell Winter that she
needs to get out more and be with her real, live friends.
Can Winter save the caverns? Will she lose her ghost friend?
Can she save the caverns and keep her ghost friend too? What is Winter’s plan?
How will she save Lago Caverns?
I love the world of Winter’s Caverns and hearing her tell
her ghost stories. When I am reading Winter’s story I can see it playing out in
my head like a movie. It’s like having esp and being able to imagine what the
author has written of seeing the words come to life in your head.
When I picture Winter I see her with a dress on with a
poodle skirt like but without the poodle and flat shoes sort of like ballerina shoes
but leather. I can see the caves with the front desk and maybe a little gift
shop with customers standing around waiting to be taken on a tour maybe
inspecting all the merchandise.
I can picture the lights strung along the top of the cave. I
can see the stairs that lead further into the caves and while their walking
down the staircase I picture them looking over the side and down further in the
cave and maybe it has water running. I can see Winter standing at the top of
the staircase telling her ghost stories to the customers before heading down. I
can see Garrett semitransparent like he is blinking in and out of existence.
Wicked Regrets is a short read but it reads like a full
length novel. It will grab your attention on the first page and pull you into
Winter’s world. Whenever I pick up one of Winter’s stories I can’t seem to put
it down and have to read it all in one sitting. I can’t seem to get enough of
Winter and her caverns.
If you like reading ghost stories or just looking for a
great book to read set in an amazing world with great characters then Wicked
Regrets would be that book. I would highly recommend Wicked Regrets to anyone
who likes a good ghost story.
