Virtual Book Tour + #Giveaway: Mysti and Starr by Kate Hill @katehillromance @GoddessFish

Mysti and Starr
by Kate Hill
GENRE: Paranormal Romance

BLURB:

A blazing trail only he can see leads demon hunting biker Starr Johanson to his destined mate. A blessing placed on her family’s ancestral land summons Mysti Wild to the cabin where she’ll meet the man fated to share her life.

Each fears the other will be frightened by magic they don’t understand, but they quickly learn to trust each other, because no one can resist the person they were born to love.

Excerpt:

Starr slipped and tumbled down a rocky, leaf-strewn decline. For several seconds he could only grunt and try to roll with the fall. He landed on his stomach, the wind momentarily knocked out of him. He tasted blood and spat a mouthful while pushing himself to his hands and knees. From what he could tell, he had cuts and bruises, but no breaks.

Blinded by rain and wind, he glanced around, dazed. He started climbing up the slippery incline, but fell again. Maybe it was an optical illusion, but he thought a path led off to his left. Starr tried to calm his mind and listen for guidance. Instinct told him to try the path, illusion or not, and he had long ago learned to listen to his instincts.

He took a step and his ankle nearly buckled.

Great.

He pushed forward as quickly and carefully as he could with a sprained ankle.
Something too warm for rain trickled down the back of his neck. He swiped it and looked at his bloodstained hand. Rain pelted it, diluting the blood. Dragging his hand along his denim-clad thigh, he limped on.

Squinting through the storm, he noticed a clearing in the distance, surrounding a lake or bay.

“Hey!”

That wasn’t a spirit voice, but human.

“Hey, you! Dude!”

Starr turned and saw a woman approaching. She wore a yellow fisherman-style raincoat and hat that left half her face in shadow.

She approached and Starr hobbled toward her.

“Hi,” he said. When she tilted her amber gaze to his, Starr’s heart skipped a beat.

He smiled faintly.

So she’s why I’m here.

 Interview with Kate Hill

As a writer, what would you choose as your mascot/avatar/spirit animal?
My cat loves to be right on top of my work, as in sitting on the keyboard or table, so it’s not that I’ve chosen her as a mascot, she has chosen me.

How many hours a day do you put into your writing?
It depends. Usually I have a set word count, but if it goes longer, that’s usually great. To me, writing includes working on edits, research, promotion, and writing fresh scenes, so it’s usually around 1-3 hours per day when I’m at the day job, but on weekends or when I’m on vacation from the day job it ranges from 3-12 hours per day, depending on deadlines and my family’s needs.

Do you read your book reviews? If yes, do they affect what you write in the future?
If I know about them, I usually read them. They don’t generally affect what I write in the future because everyone has their own opinion. What works for one person won’t work for another. You’ll never please everyone.

Do you leave hidden messages in your books that only a few people will find?
Not deliberately.

Can you tell us a little bit about the characters in Mysti and Starr?
Mysti comes from a magical family. Over the years, their powers as warrior witches has waned, but many Wilds still have certain psychic powers. Mysti has the ability to sense demons and contact spirits, but she doesn’t start to develop these powers until she meets Starr. He is a demon-hunting biker and a successful businessman who uses his wealth to fight paranormal evils. They’re soulmates who are drawn together at her family’s cabin where Mysti’s ancestors placed a blessing so that members of the Wild family can find true love.

Can you tell us a little bit about your next books or what you have planned for the future?
Currently I’m working on Amelia and Orion, the last book in the Wild Witches of Beaver Bay series. This series is actually a prelude to my Fangs and Fists series and I have plans for a third series that will tie together and conclude both Fangs and Fists and Wild Witches of Beaver Bay. This month, Spirits of Christmas (Wild Witches of Beaver Bay) is available from Changeling Press. Here’s a little about the story: On Christmas Eve twenty-five years ago, a brutal murder was committed at the house where Christa Wild works as a live-in maid. When the other servants leave for the holiday, she stays behind, hoping that any spirits dwelling there will help her regain the psychic power she lost. She's surprised when the intriguing but disturbed owner of the house appears several days before Christmas. Action star Joel Connor has kept a terrible secret for most of his life. Despite his success as an athlete and actor, he is plagued by flashbacks of a gruesome attack that destroyed his family. This Christmas, Joel returns to the house where it happened to face the ghosts of the past, but finds he is not alone. Joel and Christa are instantly attracted, but will his psychological state prevent them from finding peace and love?

Do you allow yourself a certain number of hours to write or do you write as long as the words come?
I have a daily word goal, but if I write more than that, that’s great!

Do you have a certain number of words or pages you write per day?
I have a goal of at least 1000 words per day, but generally I end up writing more than that.

What inspires you to write?
Characters. If I can’t stop thinking about the characters, then I have to tell their story.
