My Review:
What Big Teeth is what I would describe as being a slow burn, ominous, horror story. What Big Teeth starts out slow and builds up to its final climax with lots of secrets in between the pages that keeps the story going and had me hooked and just trying to get through it so I could see how it all turned out in the end.
What Big Teeth is about a girl, Eleanor Zarrin who has been away at boarding school for a long time. Eleanor has not seen nor heard from her family in all the time she has been away. At this boarding school Eleanor is picked on constantly by other classmates. One day Eleanor has finally reached her limit and decides to fight back. The results being a very tragic accident leaving one student badly injured. Eleanor is scared and not knowing what else to do and no where to go she decides to head home.
Eleanor’s family appears to welcome her home with open arms with a big dinner celebration and everything. Eleanor’s family is very strange, her mother likes to spend most of her time in the bathtub. The rest of the family likes to spend their time roaming around the woods. Her grandmother is a witch that can read tarot cards and see the future.
Eleanor is just like any other girl of her age. She wants to fit in and have friends. She just wants to have someone to care for her and love her for who she is on the inside and not the outside. She fights with her whole family for the attention of their dear friend Arthur. Everyone in the whole family seems to care more for Arthur than they should.
After the death of her grandmother Eleanor is left in charge. The family is falling apart without their dear leader or so they think. It is up to Eleanor now to hold the family together and protect them. If she can’t then they will lose everything and more than likely the family will grow further and further apart until they all go their separate ways.
Eleanor will do her best to keep the family together. Eleanor will have to deal with keeping the family together all by herself as a little bird has whispered in her ear telling her not to trust anyone, not family, friend or foe. Can Eleanor save herself and her family?
