My Review:
In The Girl in the Scarlet Chair Clarisse has been told all her life to stay a way from the scarlet chair behind the locked door. But Clarisse can’t seem to stay a way from the chair. The chair is haunted and feeds off of a person’s negative energy. Every time Clarisse has disobeyed her mother and sat in the chair she ends up in the hospital for a couple of weeks. Clarisse is a very strong person with lots of determination and will let nothing stand in her way of completing a task.
Haunting in Hartley is a horrifying and spooky fun read with lots of suspense, mystery with enough twists to keep those pages turning. The story is written so well that I could see each and every scene as if I were right there with Clarisse. I could feel and see what Clarisse herself felt and saw.
Haunting in Old Tailem takes place in a haunted town in Australia. Many, many, years ago children started disappearing in this little ghost town. Long ago a curse was placed upon the town and children. Upon arriving in this ghost town, Clarisse finds herself right in the middle of a battle of evil incarnate.
Haunting Clarisse Series drew me in from the beginning and I was hooked until I turned the last page, well, actually I don’t think it has let go yet as it is still haunting me.
Janice Tremayne knows how to write a story so vivid that you feel as if you are a part of its world or at least wish you were. She will have you jumping out of your chair with each turn of the page. You will be racing to the end wanting to devour the whole story in one sitting. I can’t wait to read more of her work and hopefully not too far in the future.

Clarisse meets this guy, Harry online with the help of her friend Marjorie. Harry visits Clarisse in Manila and the two hit it off real quick-like. Actually, I think Harry and Clarisse fell in love with each other online before they ever met in person. Clarisse doesn’t want to lie to Harry but keeps as much as possible hidden from him about the scarlet chair.
I so enjoyed reading The Girl in the Scarlet Chair. All the characters were so awesome. I really enjoyed getting to know them. I liked learning a little bit about Manila. I liked when Harry took Clarisse to one of the tourist spots.
Harry and Clarisse are two kindred spirits whom both have endured some of the same things like their partners cheating on them. They can relate to how the other is feeling and maybe help each other to recover from their broken hearts.
The Girl in the Scarlet Chair is not the first book in the Haunting Clarisse Series that I have read no I read book three Haunting in Old Tailem first and loved it so much I couldn’t wait to read the rest of the series.
After reading the Haunting in Old Tailem I don’t feel as if I missed very much but I am glad that I finally got around to reading the first book The Girl in the Scarlet Chair and being able to learn more about Clarisse and who she is. I can’t wait now to dive into book two, Haunting in Hartley as Clarisse makes her way to a haunted ghost town in Australia.
I definitely recommend The Girl in the Scarlet Chair to everyone who loves a good haunting. One-click your copy of The Girl in the Scarlet Chair to see what all the hype is about with the girl and the scarlet chair. Trust me you won’t regret it!

My Review:
When Clarisse’s boyfriend, Harry takes a job in Hartley, Australia she goes with him. Hartley is known as a haunted town with lots of ghosts and demons lurking about. Clarisse is given a task to fulfill and given very strict orders as to how she is to carry out this task but as we all know by now Clarisse does not follow orders too well.
Clarisse’s assigned job is only to unlock the basement door for the delivery guy. She is given strict orders not to go inside but of course she does just the opposite.
When Clarisse unlocks the door she just has to take a look. You know the old saying curiosity killed the cat, well Clarisse is a very inquiring and scrutinizing person who just has to check everything out.
She can not not look she reminds me of a scene from The Lost World: Jurassic Park movie where Ian Malcolm played by Jeff Goldblum said that his girlfriend Sarah Harding played by Julianne Moore, “she can not not touch”, when she touches one of the dinosaurs.
There is a door in the basement that calls to Clarisse that she must see what is lurking behind it no matter what the cost is to herself or anyone else for that matter or at least not at that very moment in time.
I don’t even think that she stops to give it any thought as to what could happen if she opens that door and goes investigating what is in this room that she was warned about.
There is something evil incarnate waiting for her behind that closed and locked door. I think Clarisse may have bitten off more than she can chew this time as there is something very Sinister and malevolent lurking behind that door just waiting to make a deal, a deal that could cost Clarisse everything.
Will Clarisse makes a deal with the devil? Or is she so much stronger than that? What is lurking behind that closed and locked door? What is waiting for Clarisse on the other side? So many questions that need answering. Oh my, what to do? What to do? Well, the thing to do is pick up a copy of Haunting in Hartley that is if you want to find all the answers.

Haunting in Old Tailem is a fun and fascinating little story that can be read as a stand-alone in just a few hour's time. Haunting in Old Tailem is the third book in the Haunting Clarisse series and while it is the first book in the series that I have read I don’t feel as if I missed anything as I was focusing on the story of the children and the ghost.
When I read the summary and saw that Haunting in Old Tailem was a ghost story set in Australia I knew right away that I had to read it. I love old ghost stories. I also love stories with children in them. Oh, and did I mention that I have wanted to visit Australia for as long as I can remember and enjoy any glimpse of it that I can get?
Haunting in Old Tailem drew me in from the beginning and I was hooked until I turned the last page, well, actually I don’t think it has let go yet as it is still haunting me. I have truly enjoyed Clarisse’s third tale Haunting in Old Tailem and do believe I would really enjoy reading the first two books in the series as well.
