Will a fake relationship turn into a forever romance? Find out in Juliette Hyland’s latest Harlequin Medical Romance, the first story in the Neonatal Nurses duet!
A picture is worth a thousand words…What about a viral video?
When Dr. Benedict saves an infant on the Washington Metro, the treatment he performs with nurse Penny becomes the talk of the town—and social media! Not least because the world thinks they’re a couple… While a real relationship is a no-go zone for divorced Benedict, prolonging their “faux-mance” is the perfect way to raise vital hospital funds. But the longer their ruse goes on, the more real it feels!

Interview with Juliette Hyland
How did you become involved with the subject or theme of your book?
This was my first duet, which means I wrote the first story, A Nurse to Claim his Heart, and Scarlet Wilson wrote Neonatal Doc on her Doorstep. For these books, Harlequin asked us to write stories where our heroes and heroines worked in the NICU. We had a zoom and outlined how we wanted to proceed. It was different, but I loved it.
What were your goals and intentions in this book, and how well do you feel you achieved them?
I really wanted to play with the idea of a fake relationship and a viral video. In today’s world it seems like so many things go viral, but we often never have the full story behind it. I do think I achieved the goal of making this a satisfying story with a cute not-so fake relationship.
What was the hardest part of writing this book?
The medical scenes for this one were hard. Scarlet and I made a promise early on that our babies could be sick…a requirement of the location we were given by our publisher…but all of them got better. Walking that delicate tight rope was touchy sometimes.
What did you enjoy most about writing this book?
The TRIVIA!!! I love trivia. My brain is full of so much random knowledge. I will deep dive on topics and just learn as much as possible and then move onto the next thing. Getting to use a bit of this information for this story was a real treat.
Where there alternate endings you considered?
Honestly no. I had the epilogue for this one written out before I finished most of the book. I just had to have that scene, and I think it ended perfectly for Penny and Benedict.
Can you share some stories about people you met while researching this book?
So I have been a big fan of Scarlet Wilson’s for several years. Getting to meet her via Zoom and then writing a story with her was the absolute best! It was so much fun, and I loved every minute.
What genre of books do you enjoy reading?
I read a lot of category romance, but also love paranormal romance and urban fantasy. I used to read a lot of nonfiction too but given all the “once-in-a-lifetime” events happening in the last few years, I have retreated to happily ever afters. I need the escape!
Author Bio:
Juliette Hyland believes in caffeine, hot drinks and happily ever afters! She lives in Ohio, USA, with her prince charming, who has patiently listened to many rants regarding characters failing to follow the outline. When not working on fun and flirty happily ever afters, Juliette can be found spending time with her beautiful daughters, giant dogs or sewing uneven stitches with her sewing machine.
