Blurb:
A girl abandoned.
A vanished world.
A determination to keep her brother safe at all costs…
When Kendall’s parents died, she thought she would be okay. After all, she was still in contact with her best friend, and Liv’s mom was prepared for anything. Kendall wouldn’t be alone. She would have help. She would be all right.
Except that’s not how it turned out and now she’s faced with keeping her ten-year-old brother safe all on her own. But with society gone and most of humanity dead, she isn’t sure how to do it. Or if she even can. Short on food and desperate for help, Kendall sets out in search of other survivors, but soon discovers the virus isn’t the worst part of their new world. And that no one, not even Liv’s mom, could have been prepared for the misery that awaits…
My Review:
When everyone was sick and dying Kendall promised her mom that she would take care of her little brother, Kevin. She was doing a pretty good job but then she injured herself and became ill. When their food started running out Kendall knew they were going to have to find other survivors. She was afraid because she didn’t know who to trust in this new world.
The virus has left behind more than the sick and the dead it has left behind monsters of a different kind. Monsters are unlike anything man has seen before. Monsters that only come out at night. Big scary monsters. Big scary monsters to be afraid of very afraid.
World of Misery may be a short read but it has a lot between its pages. Once I began reading World of Misery I couldn’t take my eyes off the pages and I surely couldn’t turn them fast enough as I raced to the end not because I wanted it to end, never but because I couldn’t stop reading of course. I love this world that Kate has created for Cursed World and I never want it to end.
I loved getting to know Kendall and Kevin in a world gone mad in World of Mercy and can’t wait for more that is sure to come. The monsters are unlike anything I have read before. I can’t wait to meet more survivors in future books of the Cursed World series.
I highly recommend World of Misery to all fans of dystopia and post-apocalyptic books. Grab a copy of World of Misery today!
