How many books have you written and which is your favorite?
I have written 4 books and the last one was my favorite.

If you’re planning a sequel, can you share a tiny bit about your plans for it?
I’m on last the book of the Sophia Freeman series (5th book). This is where the protagonist becomes the true Chosen One.
Do you want each book to stand on its own, or are you trying to build a body of work with connections between each book?
I wanted to build a body of work with connections between each book.
How did you come up with the title for your book?
I got the title from the season and the main villain who was finally released from his prison.
How long did it take you to write this book?
It took me one year to write and illustrate this book.
What does the title mean?
Sophia Freeman and the Winter Behemoth is about Sophia Freeman’s (Chosen One) journey and great evil is rising.
What did you learn when writing the book?
It’s never too late to add a new character to improve the storyline after multiple revisions.
What surprised you the most?
Pre-orders on book 4 set a new record in the Sophia Freeman series!
Have you ever killed off a character your readers loved?
I’m not that mean … yet 😊
What do you do to get inside your character’s heads?
Talking to myself as I replay the scenes multiple times in my mind 😊
About the Author
Thuan Doan is an award-winning author of the Sophia Freeman series. He conceived his first middle-grade fantasy novel, Sophia Freeman and the Mysterious Fountain, during a trip to Gabriola Island, British Columbia in the summer of 2013. Then he took his work and settled in a small town of Enderby, where it’s peaceful and quiet.
Thuan is writing under a pen name of T.X. Troan. “X” stands for Xu, his grandmother’s name who passed away. And “Troan” is a combination of his parents' names.
“No matter how this turns out, I want my family to be a part of this wonderful journey.”
T.X. Troan married Sarah, his original fan and longtime love, in 2016. They live in Enderby with their pack dogs!
