When April Linus’ best friends find themselves in trouble with the Miami Mafia, the former heiress turns to an even more dangerous criminal for help… her father.

Not an easy decision for the young, single mother who found herself pregnant at nineteen and forced to choose between her trust fund and having a baby. April’s father agrees to loan her the money, if she moves home for a few months so he can get to know his grandchild. Before she can decide what to do, she comes face to face with the last man she ever expected to see again… her father’s former bodyguard who disappeared five years ago after she slept with him.

Black Ops operative Jonas Ostergaard made a nearly fatal mistake the last time he was in Key West. After working his way into Philip Linus’ circle of trust, Jonas let the Arms Dealer’s beautiful, kindhearted daughter distract him from his mission. He was yanked off the job by his superiors, but now he’s back to stop Linus from selling a dangerous new technology on the black market.

Needing to prove himself to save his job, Jonas is determined to keep his distance from April this time. But when he suspects she knows more about her father’s illegal business dealings than she admits, he’s torn between protecting her and uncovering the truth.

Passion ignites when April and Jonas end up on the run dodging arms dealers in the steamy Amazon rainforest, but April wonders what kind of relationship she could have with a man who has more secrets than she does. A man who could disappear at any moment and leave her heart in tatters.

Trapped between loyalty to her father and a new allegiance with the man she’s falling in love with, April realizes none of it will matter if they don’t escape the jungle alive.

Interview with Tricia Leedom

As a writer, what would you choose as your mascot/avatar/spirit animal?
Hmm, how about a dolphin? Like a dolphin, my romantic adventure novels are funny, fast-paced reads set in the Caribbean. Also, like a dolphin, I enjoy the company of dogs.

How many hours a day do you put into your writing?
When I’m working on a book, I find myself working scenes out in my head or sketching them out in notebooks and doing research at random times throughout the day. This preparation helps the words come easier when I do sit down to write. I may write for an hour or I may write for 8 hours. It depends on the day and how inspired I am.

Do you read your book reviews? If yes, do they affect what you write in the future?
Yes, I read my reviews. I’ve been very lucky; book bloggers and readers have been very kind to me. I’ve had fans of the series tell me they don’t want it to end, so their enthusiasm has inspired me to write a spin off series. More on that below.

Do you leave hidden messages in your books that only a few people will find?
There are elements in my books taken from my own life, so if you know me, you may catch that. For example, I did a little tribute for my sweet 12-year-old Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Jack, who passed away earlier this year. In Passion Punch, readers learn the hero bonded with a neighbor’s dog when he was little - a brown retriever named Jack.

Can you tell us a little bit about the characters in Passion Punch?
April Linus is a former heiress who found herself pregnant at nineteen and was forced to choose between her trust fund and having a baby. She’s a soft-hearted giver who has built a new life for herself and her child working two jobs to make ends meet. She’s content with her new life, but she carries a dark secret. She knows her father is the dangerous international arms dealer known as Albatross.

Jonas Ostergaard is a Black Ops operative who needs to prove himself to his superiors after botching his last job. He’s a loner, who’s had a rough childhood, but beneath his rigid exterior he has a good heart. He’s returned to Key West to stop Albatross from selling a dangerous weapon on the black market. If he messes up again, it could cost him his job.

Both characters were introduced in the first book of “The Key West Escape Series,” so readers can go back and follow their journeys.

Can you tell us a little bit about your next books or what you have planned for the future?
Passion Punch wraps up a three books series, but, as I mentioned, I’m not quite ready to leave the world yet. So, I’m planning a spin off called “The Lost Souls’ Treasure Series.” It’s about eight misfits and their leader Mitch Thompson, a treasure hunter, who brings them all together to help him find the legendary Lost Souls’ Treasure, rumored to be worth a large fortune.

The new series is set in the same world as “The Key West Escape Series” so familiar characters and places will pop up throughout the books. The first book is called “Pieces of Eight” and features one of the misfits, a former SEAL Team Leader who is no longer welcome in his hometown from something that happened in his past. When he comes face to face with his former high school sweetheart, the woman who once betrayed him and ruined his reputation, he finds himself torn between hating her and wanting her back.

Do you allow yourself a certain number of hours to write or do you write as long as the words come?
I usually write as long as the words come. On the weekends, I’ve stayed up until dawn a few times. If I’m inspired, I don’t want to lose it.

Do you have a certain number of words or pages you write per day?
I don’t have a set number of words. I may end up writing 100 words or I may get 5,000 in a day. I think the most I’ve written in a day was around 8,000 words.

What inspires you to write?
Reading books by other romance authors always inspires me to write.
