Excerpt Tour + #Giveaway: God of Summer by Kat Chant @katchantauthor @GoddessFish

The God of Summer

by Kat Chant

GENRE: Dark Fantasy, Paranormal

BLURB:

Back in the Bronze Age, Angus McCraggan sacrificed his life to break the Celtic curse laid on his kind. He failed. Millennia later, he returns to modern Ireland to find his people have become feral, vengeful shadows. With his hollow hill now packed with tourists, he uses his power to keep his past hidden.

Until an American calls him out.

Since a banshee attacked her as a teen, Erin De Santos has been tormented by dreams of a boy she’s never met. Armed with a new identity, she returns to the Emerald Isle determined to face her nightmare. But her discovery turns fatal.

When the banshee strikes again, Angus surrenders his heart—and his hope of freeing his people—to save her. With his life now hers and his curse descending, Erin must make a terrible choice: kill her savior or share his doom.

Excerpt:

When she gave an ear-cracking yawn, she sucked his power into her body.

Relief swollen, he kissed her eyelids, her forehead, her mouth.

She wriggled in his arms, then reached up to touch his face. “Were you kissing me, Angus McCraggan?”

Dizzily, he pulled away from the drugging tartness of bird-cherries. Unless it was cranberries from America. Whatever the fruit, it was not how Liz’s aura had tasted earlier.

What have I done?

He forced a smile. “Messing with that banshee took a lot out of you. Are you well?”

She smiled up at him with her cheeks and lips chapped red, and her espresso-brown eyes brimful of belief and something much more than mere appreciation. His lungs ran empty. He needed to breathe. Drinking in the sight of her was not a replacement for air.

Mm.” Her fingertips traced from his temple to his jaw in a possessive gesture which lit a terrible, forbidden yearning inside him. “I’m about ten kinds of awesome and you avoided my question on the kissing.”

You needed a touch of mouth-to-mouth.”

She giggled. “If I’d known CPR was so good, I’d pass out more often.” Sliding her fingers from his jaw to his neck, she tugged his head close enough for the warmth of her breath to fan over his chin. “I’m feeling faint. Will you do it again?”

Liz.” His throat thickened with emotions he didn’t want to identify. This wasn’t love. She was merely high on life, a side-effect of his healing. Still, her happiness addled him more than the whiskey. “You’re not yourself, mo chroí. You were as cold as the grave not two minutes ago.”

Liz’s smile turned crooked at the endearment, and she slowly wet her lips less than an inch from his own. “Then warm me.”

A gorgeous cover and an intriguing synopsis and excerpt, The God of Summer sounds like a must read for me. Thank you for sharing your bio and book details. If given the chance would you like to see your story turned into a movie and if so, who is in your dream cast?

Glad you love the cover, Dana banana and Sherry!

That's a super tough question, Bea. Hmm. I had a younger Jessica Alba in mind for my heroine and a younger Colin O'Donoghue (Hook in Once Upon a Time) when writing but if I was casting for a movie right now, Hailee Steinfeld has the attitude for Erin, and while it's tempting to cast Timotheé Chalamet for Angus... Actually, you know what, I can't think of anyone else who can currently pull off brooding hotness as well as he can. Anya Taylor-Joy would definitely nail the challenging role of my banshee, Caer.
