True Fiction

Ian Ludlow Thrillers #1

by Lee Goldberg

Published: April 1, 2018

Publisher: Thomas & Mercer

Genre: Thriller, Mystery, Crime, Suspense, Adventure, Spy Thriller, Espionage, Action, Fiction

Blurb:

#1 New York Times and Amazon Charts bestselling author Lee Goldberg hits the ground running in a breakneck thriller where truth and fiction collide for the unluckiest writer alive.

When a passenger jet crashes onto the beaches of Waikiki, bestselling thriller writer Ian Ludlow knows the horrific tragedy wasn’t an accident.

Years before, the CIA enlisted Ian to dream up terrorism scenarios to prepare the government for nightmares they couldn’t imagine. Now one of those schemes has come true, and Ian is the only person alive who knows how it was done…and who is behind the plot. That makes him too dangerous to live.

Ian goes on the run, sweeping up an innocent bystander in his plight—Margo French, a dog walker and aspiring singer. They are pursued by assassins and an all-seeing global-intelligence network that won’t stop until Ian and Margo are dead. Ian has written thrillers like this before, but this time he doesn’t know how it’s going to end—or if he will be alive to find out.

My Review:

After seeing True Fiction the first time around it wouldn’t let me go it kept pulling at me until I finally decided that I had to give it a go. And after reading it I am so glad I did. I have to admit that I had expectations going in but what was between those pages was not quite what I was expecting at all.

In lots of ways, True Fiction reminded me so much of the TV show Quantico as it is about CIA agents in training, or well the second season is. I loved how True Fiction kept me in suspense from beginning to end. It was so very intense as each scene played out.

The characters were all so believable. They just seemed so natural. I was even thinking about actors that would be great to play Ian Ludlow and I hardly ever do this. I was thinking that either Mark Wahlberg or Ryan Reynolds would be great playing Ian.

Bestselling thriller writer Ian Ludlow is approached by the CIA and several other authors to devise terrorism scenarios to prepare the government for nightmares they couldn't imagine.

Years later Ian is on the run as someone is trying to kill him. It all started the day an airplane crashed on a beach in Waikiki. I don’t think Ian gave the plane crash much thought until the day his home blew up with him in it. I think that just may be the day he started to put things together even if only in the back of his mind.

Now Ian is on the run trying to stay one step ahead of whoever the CIA is sending after him to try and kill him. Of course, it is not long before everything starts to come together for Ian. Especially after hearing about the other authors that were in on coming up with terrorism scenarios for the government.

True Fiction is a great start to a brand new series and a great starting novel by Lee Goldberg that I’ve read. I have been looking for books, movies, and TV shows like Quantico ever since I binge-watched it a while back so far I have not had any luck at all until now with True Fiction. I would very much love to see True Fiction made into a movie or TV show.

I would recommend True Fiction to all mystery, suspense, spy, or even espionage fans! Grab your copy of True Fiction today for an epic adventure into the spy world!
