When I picked up Counteract I thought I will only read a
little bit just enough to find out what is going on in Careen’s world and to
meet Tommy. But I was not able to do that; no once I picked it up I couldn’t
put it down. I kept telling myself that I would read just a little bit more but
the next thing I knew I had turned the last page.
Counteract opens with everyone being giving an antidote to
save them from the terrorist attacks. They were told that they had to take the
antidote every day or they would die. But it turned out that this antidote may
not be what they were told it was. This drug left most people dazed and lifeless
doing whatever they were told by the government.
Careen and Tommy find out by accident what the drug is
really is and how it truly affects everyone. After learning about the drug and figuring
out that the government was probably behind the drug and only wanting to
control people and keep them in line and use them as puppets on a string but
for what they do not know. Are they being attacked by terrorist? Or is this
just a way for the government to control the people?
Counteract starts out with action on the first page and
doesn’t let up until the last page. There is so much action with the government
trying to take over the people and making sure everyone took their daily doses,
the government watching every aspect of their daily lives. I just love the
world that the author has created for Counteract with the government conspiracy
and how they use an “antidote” to control the people. I can’t wait to read more
in the next book Resist to find out more about the resistance and Careen and
Tommy’s involvement.
I would recommend Counteract to all dystopian fans.

Knowledge

Tommy
and Careen no longer believe the Office of Civilian Safety and
Defense's miracle antidote can protect them from a terrorist's
chemical weapons. After accidentally discovering the antidote's real

Ayn Rand, particularly Anthem, but Resist is much faster paced and
holds your attention from the beginning.

Resist picks up right where Counteract left off with Careen
and Tommy joining the Resistance and hoping to stop the OSCD from controlling
the people. They want to stop the people from taking the drugs that are delivered
to them week after week.
The ER is filling up with people who have decided to stop
taking OCD after the chaos and destruction that erupted in Counteract the
people are afraid to take OCD and afraid not to take it. But after deciding not
to take it they end up in withdrawals thinking they are dying which is what the
OSCD told them that OCD would do to them if they stopped taking it. The people
were told by the OSCD that OCD would protect them from a terrorist Chemical
attack.
Meanwhile back at the Resistance headquarters Careen and
Tommy are working with the others to help stop the OSCD but they are not on the
same page. Tommy wants to do something that could put his life as well as
others in danger and Careen thinks they should take things a little bit slower
and handle things in a different way. Now there is trouble in paradise.
Can Careen make Tommy see things her way? Can she stop him
before it is too late? What is Tommy up to? Or maybe Careen needs to be on

Resist was just as good as its predecessor Counteract I
honestly can’t say which one I liked the best as both were equally intriguing
and held my attention from the first page. I had trouble putting both Resist
and Counteract down.
The characters are all so amazing and the world that the
author has created for the Resistance series is so wonderful it seems so real
as I believe it could actually become real to us as well one day now that would
be scary.
I mean the government trying to control people by giving
them drugs to take daily and by rationing food and distributing it out to
people on a weekly basis. Now that is scary indeed but it does make you stop
and think.
Resist is one book I highly recommend to all dystopia fans.
Ignite
Resistance
Series Book 3
The
Greatest Risk Is To Take No Risk At All.
Nationwide
food shortages have sparked civil unrest, and the Office of Civilian
Safety and Defense’s hold on the people is slipping. The
Resistance’s efforts to hasten the OCSD’s demise have resulted in
disaster, with Tommy Bailey and Careen Catecher taking the blame for
the ill-fated mission in OP-439.
Both
teens struggle to survive the circumstances that force them into the
national spotlight—and this time, they’re on opposite sides. On
the run and exiled from the Resistance members in BG-098, Tommy makes
his way to a Resistance safe house in the capital.
The
OCSD is preparing to monitor all under-eighteens with the Cerberean
Link, a device that protects them against hunger and sickness and can
even locate them if they’re lost. Tommy’s now living in close
quarters with Atari, an operative who has been assigned to sabotage
the Link. But does Atari plan to use it for his own
purposes?
Through
it all, Tommy refuses to believe Careen’s loyalties have shifted
away from the Resistance, and he’s willing to assume any risk to
reconnect with her. Will they be able to trust each other when it
matters most?
Ignite picks up pretty much where Resist book #2 in the
Resistance Series left off. Careen is being held captive and being abused by
her captors. She is being forced to reveal many of the resistance secrets. She
is being forced to make videos that are not true. She is being forced to push
OCSD’s agenda that she does not believe in. She is more or less being
blackmailed into confessing things that she did not do.
Tommy is doing everything he can to rescue Careen. He knows
that the videos are not true and that Careen is being forced to make them.
Tommy still believes in Careen all the way as he is very much in love with her.
The OSCD have come up with a way to tag everyone under the
age of eighteen. This device will be used to track everyone under eighteen; it
is just another way for them to keep tabs on everyone and know where they are all
the time and to keep the people in line and control them.
Ignite is filled with lots of action and suspense around
every corner. It will keep you glued to your seat and the pages flipping. There
are twists and turns from beginning to end. Ignite like its predecessors likes
to hold on to its secrets keeping you hooked. It will give you a little bit of
info at a time just enough to keep you hanging on wanting to know what is on
the next page. The world building is amazing and gets better and better with
each book. The characters are all just as amazing as the story itself.
I would recommend Ignite to all dystopia fans with plenty of
action and twists.

Revolt picks up where Ignite left off with Tommy still
trying to rescue Careen. After she is rescued Careen has a long road ahead of
her for recovering with all the things the OSCD put her through. Careen has no
idea who she can trust. Tommy is trying to help her as much as he can or she
will let him. Hopefully with Tommy’s help Careen will make a comeback but she
will probably never be the same person she was before she was captured by the
OSCD and all the abuse but she is one tough cookie.
I love reading dystopia books and am so glad that I got the
chance to read all five books in the Resistance Series I sorely hate to see it
end. I love the world that was created in the Resistance Series and all the
characters. I loved following Tommy, Careen, Mitch and all the other characters
on their journeys getting to know each and every one and finding out who they
were and learning their stories and how they all fit in the story.
Revolt like all the other books in this series was filled
with just as much action and suspense as well as twists and turns that kept me
glued to my kindle flipping the pages wanting to know where the story was going
to take me next. I couldn’t put it down.
If you like reading dystopia, science fiction with just a
twist of romance then you are going to love Revolt but I do suggest that you
start with book one Counteract as I do think the books should be read in order.

Spark is a great introduction into the Resistance Series. It
introduces us to the main character Careen when she first arrived at college.
It tells us a little bit about who she was and where she came from. Careen lost
her father in a bombing when she was nine years old. She watched her father
take his last breath. Spark also introduces us to the world as Careen now knows
it. It gives us an introduction into what is going on in her world.
All Careen wants is to fit in at school and stay in the back
ground and get away from her past but that is not to be the case as one of her
teaches wants to use her as part of his teaching method because she is a
survivor of the bombings that killed her father.
Spark is a great little story that gives us just enough
information to have us hooked in no time and leaves us wanting to know more
about what is going on. I can’t wait to read more about Careen in the first
book in the Resistance Series, Counteract.
I would recommend Spark to all fans of dystopia and science
fiction novels.
Tracy
Lawson knew she wanted to be a writer from the time she could read.
In the first grade, she authored sixty-seven contact-paper bound
books through her school's Young Authors program. Though that pace
proved impossible to maintain, she always intended to be a real
author one day.
While
working toward her Bachelor's degree in Communication at Ohio
University, she studied creative writing with the late Daniel Keyes,
author of Flowers for Algernon. After short stints as a media buyer
and an investigative analyst, she settled into a 20-year career in
the performing arts, teaching tap dancing in Columbus, Ohio, and
choreographing musicals. Though her creative energies were focused on
dance, she never lost her desire to write, and has a non-fiction book
to her credit: Fips, Bots, Doggeries, and More, (McDonald &
Woodward, 2012).
Tracy's
love for writing Young Adult fiction is sparked by all the wonderful
teens in her life, including her daughter Keri, a college student.
Counteract is Tracy's first novel.
