COUNT DOWN TO DRAGON BABY

Eoin, Harbinger of Smoke and Darkness, and Angie, Angel Dragon of New Port are very pleased to announce they are expecting the birth of their first child in the Spring of 2019.
The popular celebrity couple cannot wait to meet their newest addition. They were recently spotted at the premiere shifter obstetrician’s office looking upset.
Stay tuned for updates.
Warning: DO NOT approach couple, take pictures, or trespass on their land uninvited. Trust this reporter’s advice comes from firsthand experience.
Excerpt:

Beth stood in the center of the room and raised her glass. “To the next generation.”

The crowd responded. Glasses clinked then drained. More bottles of champagne appeared in the waitstaff’s hands and glasses were refilled. So. It was going to be that kind of party. Shifters metabolized alcohol quickly and it required quite a bit of effort, on their part, to become drunk. From the way the guests were tossing back their glasses Angie assumed more than one would be tipsy before the afternoon’s end.

Betty took the seat next to Angie. “I hope you don’t mind. Since I’m mated to the pack beta I’m expected to sit next to the mother-to-be.”

“And it’s rumored to increase her fertility,” someone shouted from the crowd.

Betty squirmed, looking as uncomfortable as Angie felt. The beautiful wolf shifter’s gaze drifted to Angie’s belly, turning envious for a second before she glanced away. It wasn’t a secret that Betty and Ken desired their own litter of puppies.

“Well, then you better scoot your chair even closer.” Angie moved the table separating them out of the way and gestured to Betty.

An odd game began where Beth handed out slips of paper containing a list to all the guests. They emptied the contents of their purses. Angie peered over Betty’s shoulder. It was like bingo but instead of numbers people were ticking off objects. Taser, pepper spray, jerky, and claw clippers were some of the items listed. Angie snorted. She had been to baby showers before but they had all been for humans.

Beth approached with an armful of brightly wrapped presents. “While they play for prizes, you open presents. Pass them to Betty and she’ll take note of the gift and who it’s from.” The omega handed a small book and pen to the other woman.

“Yes, ma’am.” Angie winked. Throwing parties came naturally to Beth. She had even organized Betty and Ken’s wedding. An event New Port would never forget.

After opening a few gifts, Angie stared at the items. Kong dog toys as teething rings, scratch posts for developing claws, and fire-retardant blankets were the key items that caught her attention. She stroked her hand over her developing child. Would she have to find a pediatrician for the baby or a veterinarian? All this time, she had imagined a soft, pink baby in her arms. Now? A sharp toothed, scaly terror chasing the cats within the castle. She scratched her chin. She had zero experience with either and found both images frightened her equally.
